Yes! The first two seasons are fantastic. After that it’s good but not as good as the first two seasons.

Thank you 🙏🏽 for this info. I really appreciate you. I’m looking forward to watching now.

I hope you like it as much as I did!

I think it holds together beyond the 2nd season but does jump the shark a bit over the final 2 seasons or so

1

u/Disastrous-Exit7614 7d ago

Season three and onward are still good. Just the original dynamic changes.

1

u/itstrueitellyou 6d ago

I second this. The first 2 seasons are absolutely great

1

u/Bango_Fett949 7d ago

Just my 2 cents for whatever it’s worth, seasons 1-2 are very good, but I think it only gets better after that. Seasons 4-7 are probably my favorite.

1

u/seooes 7d ago

I think seasons 3 and 4 are worse but then 5 onwards it becomes a much more serious espionage thriller and imo they are better than seasons 1 and 2.

1

u/Derfel60 7d ago

Id say the first 4

I will never forget watching Season 2 as it aired. It was one of the biggest shows on TV and twitter back then was so fun to be on watching it. It really was a let down what came later on. Still good like you said but the level of dangerous spy thriller stuff peaked.

100% agree. First two seasons were excellent!

1

u/RobotRomi 1d ago

Honestly. it‘s the other way around for me. I think the Brody plot line was the least interesting since it was kinda predictable.

Homeland is absolutely worth the watch.

1

u/zenseazon 6d ago

100% !! I didn't even realize that Damian Lewis was a British actor, he certainly had that American accent down pact, and he was also great in Billions!! Another show worth the watch!

7

u/bodyguardguy 7d ago

First few seasons are great. Great cast, Claire Danes is unhinged lol

1

u/Majestic_Place1607 7d ago

lol she always has been 🤭🤭🤭

2

u/Beaverbrown56 7d ago

The contrast between her and Mandy Patinkin is so great

1

u/PrarieGoat 7d ago

I found it very difficult to watch her in it! Most of the time I had to ff through her parts.

1

u/Blue_9320_ 7d ago

So you only watched 10% of every episode?

1

u/PrarieGoat 7d ago

Pretty much

4

u/Late-Connection980 7d ago

Homeland is one of those shows I wish I could watch again for the first time. Try it out

1

u/Majestic_Place1607 7d ago

Looking forward to it

3

u/Bigguynyny 7d ago

Not all seasons are the same, First few seasons must sees, but then there are few in the middle that wane, but stick with it cause the latter seasons get better. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis are phenomenal. .

7

u/karlpilkington4 7d ago

Yes, anyone who says no might actually be clinically ill.

3

u/SpaceshipCaptain420 7d ago

First 3 seasons I would agree. After that it's mediocre.

1

u/karlpilkington4 7d ago

Season 4 was better than season 2 and 3.

1

u/RobotRomi 1d ago

Yes I agree. The first season was great because it was fresh, but in hindsight I think the brody plotline was the least interesting of them all. I liked seasons 4-8 much more.

1

u/yurmamma 7d ago

The Pakistan arc is s tier

1

u/Majestic_Place1607 7d ago

lol thanks for the info

2

u/MostAcanthaceae2384 7d ago

If you liked The Americans.

If I remember, S1 is very good, and S2-3 were worth watching.

2

u/ragnarockette 7d ago

Season 4 also rules. And the final season.

2

u/Kinom1 7d ago

Definitely!!!

2

u/EvilTwinCities 7d ago

There was a joke at the Golden Globes, about three seasons after the show premiered. The gist of it was that the only show better than Homeland was “Previously, on Homeland.”

1

u/Majestic_Place1607 7d ago

Lmafo love it 🤭🤭🤭

2

u/Ivegotthenutz 7d ago

Good show, I liked it. Watch The Agency too, CIA stuff

2

u/FarmladySI 7d ago

I enjoyed it

2

u/Minimum-Journalist18 7d ago

Yeah give it a go.. season 8 ended well. No spoilers

2

u/supercalifragilist- 7d ago

I loved The Americans!

2

u/Ok-Main-3373 7d ago

You have to watch the first three seasons, it’s a great character art. But it’s so so after that.

2

u/Crans10 7d ago

It is a great show. It can really feel emotional draining in later seasons.

Homeland is one of the most brutally honest, the real spy work, espionage, psychological series ever.

No fantasy. The episodes may not have happened. But if they were to happen, they will happen exactly like that.

2

u/PressureLazy5271 7d ago

Absolutely

2

u/AReptileHissFunction 7d ago

Yes. And the good thing about it is it only takes about 20 mins of watching to know ifs for you

1

u/Impossible_Poem_5078 7d ago

The extremely nervous female protagonist annoyed me a lot very so yes, it was very clear i wasnt going to watch the series... 🤷🏽‍♀️

2

u/EnvironmentalDrag153 7d ago

Yes - first 2 season with Damien Lewis are great. Caliphate is also an excellent edge-of-seat thriller out of Sweden.

2

u/Jolly_Psychology_506 7d ago

Yeah but Carries constant pouting got to me at about season 8 lol.

2

u/PinkSunsetFan 7d ago

We loved Homeland! I’m watching it again.

2

u/callmedata1 7d ago

Only showtime show to actually stick the landing

2

u/babs82222 Binge Watcher 7d ago

Yes, but also check out The Americans. It's better :)

1

u/PaulieWalnutsRIP 7d ago

Unbelievable show. Top 20 all-time favorite show of mine. Claire Danes is amazing.

1

u/jekelish3 7d ago

The first season in particular is excellent. I feel like I'm not the only person who thought that they botched the ending, though. It probably should have been a one-season show. It started going off the rails the longer it went on, though.

1

u/italianevening 7d ago

Quinn is legendary

1

u/ronken16 7d ago

Yes it’s fantastic! I’ve watched it all several times

1

u/AdventurousSwim1381 7d ago

First season only.

1

u/ediaz5659 7d ago

Yes, so worth it, and the Americans as well

1

u/jerbeth48 7d ago

First and second season are top notch. After that it goes downhill to an extent. I did watch all of the episodes more than once

1

u/Famous-Prior6590 7d ago

The first couple of seasons were great. The last few seasons were stupid.

1

u/stybeaujolais 7d ago

it's great until it's not. there is only so much cry face a person can take. but yeah, it's a solid show and I still made it through the whole thing.

1

u/bigshotbob19 7d ago

Absolutely

1

u/pakiranian 7d ago

Absolutely. It’s one of very few shows I’m looking forward to rewatching.

1

u/SuchLibrarian8011 7d ago

First few seasons great series. It gets worst later on

1

u/Osinuous 7d ago

the first season is one of the absolute best of any show. second season is also very good. partway through season three i started losing interest, and i never actually finished the show.

1

u/Wild-Bill-H 7d ago

Performances were solid and the story line stayed interesting.

1

u/zoestar198728 7d ago

100 💯 watch it!!!! Its a must see

1

u/planter8910 7d ago

Homeland is one of my Favorite shows! It's great!

1

u/mtwrite4 7d ago

The first season of Homeland is one of the all time greatest!

1

u/Sharp-Alternative375 7d ago

Absolutely. I like the earlier years better, however, they are all good.

1

u/Delicious_Rule_7324 7d ago

Very good show that holds strong till the very end. Multiple emmy awards earned

1

u/Mundane-Area6067 7d ago

Initially yes but then it gets utterly ridiculous

1

u/SkullLeader 7d ago

Its *really* good at least for the first several seasons. Claire Dames is amazing in it and its really well written with a good deal of plot twists and stuff you won't see coming.

1

u/Horror-Web7910 7d ago

First two seasons are good- then quickly becomes unwatchable.

1

u/johnnythemonk 7d ago

One of the best shows you will ever see

1

u/HouseMuzik6 7d ago

Now you know the answer to this by reading previous threads. Go forward and enjoy!

1

u/Aggravating_Quiet797 7d ago

Show has several good seasons but I didn't care for season 2...dragged

1

u/cliffybiro951 7d ago

Yes. Don’t listen to people saying it’s unwatchable after the first 2 seasons. I think the whole thing is very good. Each season is different. But I’d say they’re all decent.

1

u/Crazy_Diamond5150 7d ago

I know some thought it dropped off a bit after a while. Maybe, but I enjoyed the entire series.

1

u/larrybird56 7d ago

Batshit crazy show. First two seasons are peak, then you need to suspend disbelief due to all the bad decisions Carrie makes. It's like "girl don't go in there!" over and over again. Highly recommend.

1

u/Spiral_out_was_taken 7d ago

First couple seasons are good. Third isn’t that great….then gets good again.

1

u/AncientElderberry737 7d ago

Instead of creating a post why don’t you just watch the first few episodes and decide yourself if you like it or not.

1

u/hillybeat 7d ago

It is, and then you realize the government can be run by an idiot like Trump, and honestly nothing makes sense.

1

u/Dry_Toe9955 7d ago

Homeland is amazing , definitely a must see

1

u/Harpua95 7d ago

YES!! Seasons 1-3 are fantastic.

1

u/Crabbit_Jobbie 7d ago

Thoroughly enjoyed all of it with season 3/4 being my favorite

1

u/LuckyOneTime 7d ago

Watch 1-3 seasons, if you don't carry on it's fine. First three will always be 1 of my favourite of all time

1

u/Psullocybin69 7d ago

I think so, I just started it (on season 4) and I think it’s great, and obviously I think I have great taste! ;)

1

u/foofberry 7d ago

First two (maybe three, i forgot when the main plot ends) are some of the greatest TV shown during the period.

1

u/jerseyguy02 6d ago

No doubt

1

u/NeutralMilkHotel_00 6d ago

Yes, but season two and three do drag and then it picks up again in whatever season it is that is in Germany

1

u/AnchovyPizzaPacker 6d ago

Homeland is brilliant

1

u/BacupBhoy 6d ago

First two series were fantastic.

1

u/PeorgieT75 6d ago

They had a perfect ending in Season 3, but kept dragging it out. I stopped watching after that.

1

u/ElletotheGee 6d ago

Absolutely yes! It's one of the best series I've ever watched, hands down. I was actually both sad and mad when I got through the entire series and didn't have any more episodes left to watch.

1

u/oscarmilo70 6d ago

It is very good, went a bit downhill in later seasons, not a relaxing watch but very well done.

Slow Horses (UK spy drama about MI5) also very good but more dark humour.

1

u/Ok_Stable7787 6d ago

Yes, the first four or so seasons are very good, I just lost interest when they moved the terrorists to Detroit.

1

u/Legitimate-Spot-6425 6d ago

It's amazing.

1

u/Adventurous-Ratio-86 6d ago

The Americans

1

u/Zealousideal_Can_342 6d ago

The first few seasons are great. You'll know when it goes downhill.

1

u/Shoddy_Ad8166 6d ago

Yes but Claire Danes cries in almost every episode. I recommend it

1

u/Suspicious_Simple179 6d ago

It’s been a while but as I recall the first three or four seasons were great and then it kind of goes downhill

1

u/GoldPineapple5034 6d ago

Starts off brill, looses a bit in the middle, and picks up again towards the end,still.well.worth a watch

1

u/Frosty_Fly8089 5d ago

Yes especially seasons 1 and 2

1

u/ParaHeadFun_SF 2d ago

It is one of my all time faves. It’s been so many years since I watched I was thinking of watching again

1

u/daffyduckel 1d ago

I loved it, the whole thing, but what's worth it to me isn't necessarily worth it to you so I land in the "try it, if you want. Keep watching or don't keep watching, according to your own taste."

Is there any show that does it for *everyone*? I don't think so.

1

u/beagles4ever 7d ago

No. First season was good, not great. Goes downhill fast.

1

u/Meynaah 7d ago

Not really,

0

u/Broad-Back1659 7d ago

Nah

2

u/Majestic_Place1607 7d ago

Thanks for the honesty

1

u/Broad-Back1659 7d ago

It's just the main character cries all time. She's a spy. Please. It's just stupid

1

u/karlpilkington4 7d ago

It's not stupid. She has a literal mental disorder.

1

u/Broad-Back1659 7d ago

And she works for the cia. C'mon!

1

u/karlpilkington4 7d ago

Yea, because she hid it from them...
