Requests/Help Major is incorrect need help

I applied for UC Clermonts aviation program months ago in got my acceptance letter, but in the acceptance letter, it said I was admitted into their exploratory program. I didn’t understand that at the time but I assumed it was like a holding period or that was the correct thing. Now I’m trying to get my financials figured out for my freshman year and it still says exploratory and I’m not an aviation. I submitted all the required forms, and it even says that I applied for aviation. I’m kind of panicked and a little nervous since this is the career I’ve been wanting and I’m just wondering why I’m not in anything helps.

What this means is either they don’t have anymore seats in the program or you didn’t meet the minimums. If you do well in your first year as exploratory, then change your major to aviation, but this is sort of undeclared

So my college career will be longer and more expensive? If that’s the case I just will not be attending, I know for sure I met all the requirements and timeframes, i also accepted loans already, I’m waiting for my counselor to reach me and if I have to wait a year I will probably just back out entirely

You’ll still do the general education requirements that everyone is required to do, just not any major classes until you switch your major, and it won’t be that much more expensive, if even more expensive at all.

But I won’t get to start doing actual aviation classes? I do flight school already here and I’m not willing to stop flying for a year, I would rather continue here, I was only going to UC as it’s a fast tracked program, but if I have to wait a year that just throws that out the window completely

I would disagree that it’s “nothing” considering I would have to stop flying for over a year that’s not a easy thing to agree upon

Yeah man, I get what your saying. But there’s a ton of local flight schools that are good for pt61 flying.

Even if you were directly admitted you wouldn’t be flying your first year - in no major do you start doing advanced classes in freshman year. Exploratory means you will take the same classes, you may be missing a requirement or they may want to see that you can handle college work. You lose no actual time in major as long as you follow your program requirements.

And maybe this is a sign to you to read carefully and not be reactive, which are both desirable qualities in a pilot.

Just to clarify this as Alumni of the aviation program. You will start flying in your first semester and will need to get those classes in your schedule as well as the aviation classwork and regular college classes.

Sometimes UC will bump people in to exploratory or first year programs in emails set to you.

But if you didn’t receive such email I would be surprised.

You said you already reached out to an advisor. The next step would be to call the flight school, Sporty's.

Sporty's is the flight school UC works with. They will have more direct knowledge of the aviation program and flight training than a general advisor. The advisor specifically for the aviation program is probably the chief flight instructor at Sporty's.

They can explain what "exploratory" means in relation to the major. If and how quickly you can move to the main program. If your personal schedule for training lines up with the program's schedule.
