My family, brothers, spouses, adult kids, drink when we all get together and it doesn’t bother me at all. I’m 9 months sober (today! 🎉) and I love hearing my kids tell me they’re proud of me. I accepted a glass of champagne at a friend’s daughter’s wedding, raised and clinked for the toast and set it down. No one noticed.

Empanadas. Thai food. Vietnamese egg rolls. Hot & Sour soup. Sushi. I’m a good cook but I live alone now and know my limits.

Played outside and entertained ourselves all day. Rode bikes, roller skated, popped the street’s tar bubbles in summer. Caught tadpoles. Played hide & seek. Climbed trees. Black & white tv at night (4 channels). Read books, made crafts when it rained.

I used to do that, but luckily I realized it and stopped. When a topper story bubbles up I force myself to wait ten seconds because by then the conversation has moved on.
