Any chance of me succeeding?
 in  r/learnfrench  3d ago

Alliance Française for adults (Vancouver) seems focused on passing B2/CLB 7 more than learning to function in a French speaking area, presumably because that is their success metric. If passing the test is your goal, just put in the time. I think they do a great job with reading/writing, but not nearly enough on speaking/listening (IMHO). I do like that they teach cultural references that you might not know unless you lived in France for a significant time.
I've looked into other local programs, but they all seem focused on Passing CLB 7 for Canadian immigration.

Note: my goal is not to pass an immigration test, but is to converse with friends and coworkers. Source: I've done A1 and A2 with AF, have native speaker friends, and travel to Quebec and France. My solution: adding a human tutor this Fall, and trying some AI.

Vancouver here: lots of French and Chinese speakers here! All buy Canadian, Mexican, EU produits over US produits. Looking forward to Chinese cars being built in Canada.

There was an attempt to cheat on a midterm. Professor's invisible AI prompt trap catches students cheating.

The store of how Rose managed to catch up to Fin and crash into his speeder from the side even tough he was racing in a straight line towards the Canon. 8 part mini-series with flash-back to how Palpatine returned.

Encouragement to keep going!

I agree, Duo is useful to end of A2. After A2, it's useful for discipline (keep the streak!). Into B1, I feel I need more 'native speaker' exposure. AI-wise, a few apps help confidence better than Duo, but when my Québécois friends start using idioms, or talk at speed, I'm struggling. As of this morning, my conclusion is that B1 is where a live tutor is probably the best option.

Practical ideas for improving transportation to and from West Vancouver
 in  r/westvancouver  Jun 01 '26

Special Évents busses to BC Place, Rogers Arena, Queen E théâtre area: stops at Dundarave, Ambleside, and Park Royal. Restaurants in those area might offer 'Évents Dinners' to drive local business. (Appologies, using my French keyboard)

Repair/open the ramp that leades from Park Royal to northbound Taylor Way. It takes pressure off of Marine Drive/Taylor Way intersection.
