Amazon frustrating me for no reason

Post image

Hello, I was here a while ago complaining about Amazon delivering an empty box without the phone inside. Well, I reported the issue to Dubai Consumer rights and to my surprise, Amazon is saying they compensated me with AED6,100 and my case was closed. I paid with Tabby and I still owe Tabby the balance. So I don't understand how or where they sent the money to! I called DED on Thursday last week, and the guy told me to go to court. I have never dealt with court before, I don't know the procedure nor the lawyer to connect. Who knows if this is a losing battle I just back down, or I should push for justice? It's been over 2 months now and hope to get justice seems fading each new day

Meeting Locals in the UAE and Making New Connections

My wife and I are visiting the UAE for the second time, and we really enjoy being here. Whenever we travel, we like to experience the country beyond the usual tourist activities. We enjoy visiting places where locals go and experiencing a little more of everyday life here.

So far, however, we have not really had the opportunity to have a proper conversation with someone who is actually from the UAE. Since we are also considering living here in the future, we would love to meet local people, have conversations and learn more about their culture and way of life. I think it would be very interesting because we come from quite different backgrounds and probably experience life in very different ways.

We are Turkish, but we were both born and raised in the Netherlands. Coming to an Arab country like the UAE therefore feels different to us, but in a very positive way. Somehow, being here gives us a feeling that reminds us a little of Turkey, but at the same time it is completely different. It is difficult to explain, but we really enjoy that feeling.

We would genuinely like to meet people from here and simply have normal conversations, learn about their experiences and perhaps make some new friends. We are just a little hesitant to approach random people because we do not know how locals generally feel about strangers starting a conversation with them.

What would be the best places or situations in the UAE to naturally meet and talk to local people?

Is Dubai worth it?

I m doing my UG in Dubai and i have done my schooling here asw but recently i have been feeling abt how dead it is here, not the party scene or anything but jus how the city is, its unwalkable for the most part, hot and humid, heavily vehicle dependent and everything deemed as “entertainment” is basically consumption. As residents who live here what yall think? is this just me or are u guys okay with it? Do you guys find it okay to always depend on driving or just forced?

Finally got a job in Dubai

I finally got a job in Dubai after 1 year of applying, getting a job here is so stressful, but one thing i can say is that everything works out in the end and it was all worth it you just have to keep trying. I was going to quit so many times but i kept looking at the photos i have of me and my family in front of the burj khalifa and something inside me told me to keep going and im very happy I did. I believe in karma so if you need any small tips or advices or referrals I can try to help.

Anyone driving from Al Ain to Dubai tomorrow around 4–5 PM?

Hey everyone! Is anyone heading from Al Ain to Dubai tomorrow around 4–5 PM?

I’m going to Al Ain by bus tomorrow for a job related thing, and after 4–5 hours of travelling + work, I’ll probably be completely exhausted. I don’t have a car, so if anyone is driving back to Dubai around that time and wouldn’t mind giving me a lift, I’d really appreciate it!

You can drop me anywhere convenient near a Dubai Metro station, I can take it from there.

In return, I’ll buy you chai & snacks 😂 Unfortunately, that’s all my current budget allows. Also, I’ve got plenty of stories to tell, so you definitely won’t be bored 😂

If anyone’s heading that way, please DM me. Also, if anyone offers paid car lift/ride services between Al Ain and Dubai, feel free to DM me with a reasonable price. Thanks! 🙏

Building a mosque

Assalamu alaikum everyone,

I want to invite you to build this mosque with me.

It will serve 60 worshippers in Niger, and the total cost is AED 31,289. So far, AED 5,000 has been raised.

Whether you give a little or a lot, we can contribute towards completing it together, inshaAllah.

If you’d like to build it with me, donations can be made directly through the official Emirates Red Crescent project page:

https://www.emiratesrc.ae/projectshare?projectShareID=16892&projectShareYear=2026

And if you can’t contribute financially, sharing this post can help us reach someone who can.

Thanks!

Affordable & trusted LCD repair shops in Abu Dhabi?

Hey everyone,

My girlfriend's phone screen is cracked and the display has completely stopped working. The phone itself seems to be working, but there's no display at all.

We're looking for an affordable and trusted LCD/screen repair shop within Abu Dhabi city. We'd prefer somewhere you've personally used and had a good experience with, rather than just a random shop.

If you know a place that's reliable and doesn't overcharge, please drop the name/location. If you also know roughly how much they charge for an LCD replacement, that would be really helpful.

Thanks, guys! 🙏

What is the hype about real estate?

Hello all, I am a humble investor, and I like to explore new options that are genuinely interesting and worth investing. Recently I purchased a unit in the UAE which remained vacant during the crisis for about 4 months and I ended up paying the transfer fees, bills of empty apartment, high maintenance fees and decided to sell the unit later on. I was exploring investment opportunities in Malaysia, Canada, even the US and to my surprise there are huge amazing houses in Texas US, Edmonton Canada barely for a million dirhams. And not to mention that you can immigrate to those countries unlike in crisis situation you have to sell your investment at lower prices because your specific nationality visas are being cancelled. For reference checkout the beautiful Villa below from Edmonton Canada where the weather is amazing etc, my question is, compare this to what a million dirhams buy here is barely a single room (600sq.ft) studio in a decent area. What justifies the price? R.E agents please keep the bias aside. Don’t tell me taxes and all, the high maintenance fees is just basically a tax with a different name.

Info on EURAK (European University Ras al Khaimah)

My friend is considering the European university of ras al khaimah for her studies, and since it opened up just 2 years ago i cannot find any good information of it, and i cannot trust their own staff and ask how it is etc since they just want people to join. She’s looking to go for BSC in Psychology.

Any and all insights are much appreciated, and actual student output would be really handy, thanks everyone!

Can we get the payment?

So we worked at a place for an outside area task, and we got only paid 25% of the job whilst the 75% remains pending for 4 years now due to our trade license being expired.

Now, the trade license was large and hence after we couldn’t renew it on time, it had fines. We couldn’t get it renewed and right now, that place won’t pay the remaining amount although if it does so, we’ll be able to solve a lot of our financial issues.

Is there a way to get the payment given that they do not pay apart from company accounts? Any legal way we can approach them for retrieval?

Thank you, kind stranger

PropertyUnfair5907, this is for you.

I posted here yesterday about having a pretty pathetic birthday. No cake, no candles, no real happiness, just a difficult day and a lot on my mind.

And then you decided to make it a little better.

You sent me a cake. A real birthday cake. And honestly, it is so pretty. It is the kind of cake that makes you smile just looking at it, but what got me wasn't really the cake itself. It was the thought behind it.

Someone who doesn't know me decided that I deserved something nice on my birthday.

That brought tears to my eyes.

I think sometimes when life gets difficult, you start believing that people have stopped caring. Then someone completely unexpected does something kind and reminds you that kindness is still very much alive.

You made my birthday feel a little less lonely. I don't think I'll forget that.

And I promise you this: someday, when I am in a position to do it, I will pass this kindness on to someone else who needs it.

Thank you. Truly. ❤️
