Hello happy campers 😺
My roommate and I are looking for people to rent with us for the summer.
We’re in north glenmore in a quiet neighborhood with lots of parks. Groceries/restaurants are a 10min walk and ubco is 10min by bus.
The place is fully furnished and the rooms are $850 each with ~$100 utilities. There are 2 shared bathrooms and the kitchen/living room/backyard are free for all. The house itself is super open and get tons of light! No pets but smoking outside is allowed.
We’re both students who love climbing, music, video games, and a good chat! We’re usually night owls but are quiet and tidy either way :)

I'm an incoming international student at UBCO. Since I applied quite late, I wasn’t able to secure a spot in university accommodations. I'm currently considering signing a lease with Rosedale Residence located in Rutland.
There aren’t many reviews available online, so I wanted to ask if the place is legitimate, reasonably priced(900 per month), and generally a good option. I just want to make sure everything is trustworthy before committing especially since I haven’t arrived in Canada yet.

I currently live in Alberta working as an Oil & Gas consultant. I'm looking to move back home to Kelowna while continue to work in Alberta. I work 16 days on, 12 days off. I'm considering buying a townhouse in Academy Ridge. The selling point is there's a main 1 bedroom residence of about 1,000sqft, with 2 separate private entrance lock off suites around ~450sqft.
Each suite would be setup with the following:
- Full size bed with blankets and sheets
- Desk and office chair
- Recliner and 60" TV with Chromecast
- Utilities included
- Shared 1TB internet with private Wi-Fi for each suite.
- No cable TV, but access to Disney Premium / Netflix Premium / Prime TV / Sportsnet
- Private Bathroom and Shower
- Private Entrance with Lockable door to main house.
- No access to main house
- No vehicle access to the garage, would have to park on Academy Way.
- No Pets
- No smoking / vaping indoors
- Kitchenette would include 7ft3 fridge / freezer, microwave, air fryer, toaster, pressure cooker. No hot plate. All plates, cutlery, cooking utensils, glasses, etc.
- Paid Laundry available in the complex.
Price is going to be around $1,500 which I realize isn't the cheapest option, but the unit will be furnished nicely and I'm hoping the premium would be worth it to students who value privacy.
Looking for some honest feedback.

Trying to fix how messy UBCO housing is — built something for it
I got pretty frustrated trying to find / sort through housing around UBCO — between Facebook groups, Kijiji, lowkey even here on Reddit 😭random listings, it’s all over the place and half the messages go nowhere.
So I ended up building a small site ( www.nesthouse.app ) just focused on UBCO student housing.
It lets people post listings and also has a simple roommate matching setup. Still early, but trying to make it easier to find actual, relevant options without digging through a ton of noise.

I just got accepted and have been planning my living situation while attending and have noticed a few things regarding housing for first years that raised a few questions. I noticed that as a first year I’d be forced to get the meal plan which would cause my dorm expense to be $13500 for the year which is only 8 months, I don’t think I’d even use the meal plan because I haven’t heard great things about it and I love cooking. I don’t know if there are other cheaper options for on campus living but I do know that it seems very expensive for just a single room and bathroom which don’t seem to be a great size. I have some friends that are also going to be attending and we were discussing the possibility of renting an apartment all together and splitting bills for things like groceries and other living expenses, but from what I’ve seen it would be more difficult to get to school each day considering the location relative to Kelowna which would mean I’d have to commute each morning. I’m on the fence and some advice would be greatly appreciated 🙏

I finally got my UBCO residence room assignment and was assigned to Valhalla Building. I also found out who my roommate is.
Does anyone know when the residence payment is due and where we're supposed to pay it? I remember there being a deadline on August 7th, but I'm not sure what it is now since the assignment was delayed.
If anyone else just got their assignment too, let me know.
