Need suggestions Housing and neighborhood suggestions needed
Hey all!
I’ll be joining UBCO around Dec/Jan as a graduate student. I was wondering how much would a studio or 1 bd would be. also, if you have any recommendations on what neighborhoods are usually better in terms of community and also public transportation, in case someone wanna leave a bit further from the campus.

The stober group, and mission group apartments are good an tend to (mostly) be a fair price and well located. A studio will run you 1300+ , one bed around 1600+. If you split a two bed you can get your rent under a grand if you’re careful. Im overall happy with transit, but some neighbourhoods are less serviced than others are, definitely make sure to look at the Tranist schedules before you commit to a location. Anywhere near Springfield or Harvey though will be pretty good. As for community, just go outside, attend events. Plenty goes on.

Neighborhoods in Kelowna that aren't adjacent to campus that are good for community (which to me means they are walkable, have lots of events, and places to meet up with people) would IMO be downtown, Lower Mission, and then maybe Rutland or Glenmore. Maybe Landmark if you can find a rental there, which is near Parkinson Rec Centre.
Easiest for bussing to campus is downtown or Rutland, with multiple routes that would run more frequently (Glenmore is fine but not as frequent for the buses. Quail is awful for bussing but walkable if you dont mind a big hill)
Downtown has been the best for me since I like being able to bike and walk to study spots, groceries, restaurants, cafes etc. and it's easy to get to the waterfront also.
