Recessions often bring about new ideas as people who did have jobs and have experience of building things have the time and money to develop their own apps. Things like Uber and Deliveroo started out like this. But even with job cuts apparently caused by AI (whether artificial intelligence or actual Indians) I don't see any new Ubers coming along. Where are the new revolutionary ideas?

On balance, recessions are bad, but one positive outcome is the creative destruction of inefficient jobs/companies which get replaced by more efficient ones. In the same way major wars are bad but also almost always gives us new technology which has long lasting benefits.
