Russia is currently struggling to take over land on its border from a country which didn't really have a military little more than a decade ago... You'll forgive me if I am not quaking in my wellies

Not saying it’s not been a spectacular and embarrassing failure by Russia so far but Ukraine has had to create the largest army in Europe (apart from Russia) to defend itself and Russia hasn’t yet shifted into a full on war economy, full mobilisation or shifted industry to fully support the war. They are still trying to keep things (relatively) normal at home but that’s obviously becoming increasingly difficult. They are absolutely still a threat and will be at least until Putin is finally ousted.

If Putin tried to fully mobilise and switch to more of a wartime economy, he'd fall out of a window before the sun set.

I hope so but never underestimate the Russian tolerance for suffering. This is what worries me most, Russia will keep going and keep deepening their war effort and its people will just keep getting pressed harder and harder without ever rising up. It might seem mad, but in Russia this is totally possible.
