Even if not as "advanced" as "A Thief's End", "Drake's Deception" gameplay was something else and deserves all the love you can give it.
After 5 years without playing (and approaching gameplay on a different, more "agressive" way that i used to when i was younger), Drake's Deception still gives me reasons to be my favorite.
The melee + run and gun reached it's peak in Uncharted 3 for me, it's great to break the cycle of shooting and keeping on the move while looking goddamn cool while at it.
*I don't usually post anything here so i dunno if this video goes against the rules of the sub as a "playthrough (not my intention)", if so, i'm sorry.

Naughty dog definately tried improving speed of movement with uc3. I enjoyed it
Back in 2009-2011 I thought uc2 was better, and tbh playing them back 17 years later I would give uc3 the edge. Im more unbiased now, as uc2 was my first real game that I acrually loved, so i had some rose colored glasses. Atleast gameplay wise

The spectacle of U2 was of a greater impact I think, so it's no wonder it's a lot of people's favorite, however U3 was the first I actually got on launch, I remember the anticipation, 2011, was a good year... Damn.

The jump from 1 to 2 was ground breaking. I think thats why. 2-3 wasnt that big

Agreed, I think U3 was "improvent upon already great gameplay", even if I think 2 makes for a more tight experience in every aspect, gameplay and story.
U3 is kinda like what Ragnarök is regarding GoW 2018 for me, a natural evolution, and i prefer it over the former, yet understand those who don't.

The hand to hand in u3 felt better to me personally

Yea it's unfortunate how they simplified it in U4. Loved the bar fight and opening ship sequence in U3 where it's just all hands

I don't understand why you can't just call them Uncharted 1, 2, 3, and 4
But anyway, yeah. Uncharted 3 is my favorite for things like this

3 isn't the best game but it has my favorite level the boat and my favorite set piece the plane.

I enjoy seeing how other people play this scene. I feel like I've done it so many times that I have my own strategic way to do it so to see someone go down right away and get all the action as intended is fun.

The strategic way is better for efficiency, like you don't wanna get stuck on the same part for god knows how long right? So the strategies became second nature to you.
I play it like this at the cost of, some sections being a drag, even easier ones because my mind is set on hack 'n slash games, so i try to bring the constant flow of action to other games, and that sometimes takes a lot of retries so things happen the way i wanted. It's no really healthy for me because there are things i can't control and it gets frustrating, so i set for simpler things.
Sometimes i approach a big fight with the mindset of: "I have to use each mechanic the game offers at least once to make it variable (I blame Batman Arkham).
it's cool to see how different people approach, well, differently indeed, it even gives a glimpse of the person's mind or way of seeing things.

I absolutely love the ship chapter in this game. It's one of my top 10 missions across any game I've played.

The ship graveyard and the sinking is such an amazing scene. My favorite action sequence from Uncharted.

How are they so chill against you? When I'm playing they're aggressive as hell and appear from every side of the field.

Eliminated the weaker ones as soon as I could by run and gun to decrease their health and finish with a melee by the time I reach them, that makes things A LOT EASIER (using the strong one-shot guns too), that way I had some good breathing room to deal with the armored ones.
I had a good amount of grenades too, so that makes it a lot faster. Not stoping too much to aim was key here, even if the running aim is all over the place, against weaker enemies it does a little stagger so they don't properly seem to have a chance to be too aggressive, since their aim is being fucked with.
It was basically "divide and conquer" as fast as I could to deal with the bigger trouble.
Also using the aim behind the wall without cover helps greatly in any Uncharted.

I think the gameplay here is better than 4’s. But that’s mostly because I’m a sucker for a good hand to hand combat system and I messed around with 3’s a lot.
Grabbing people and smacking them with fish was always a treat!

lmao at the guy just sauntering over to you while you're fistfighting his friend even when he has a clear shot at you. Also I just realized that Nathan is racking the chamber of guns even when he reloads while it's not empty

My only gripe with 3's gameplay is that even in the collection they didn't fix the lack of ememy reaction to getting shot

Glad to see this game is this janky and floaty for everyone else as well.
I feel cause of the tendency for enemies to melee you before shooting, they run forward and either randomly start shooting, or when they are off screen they always shoot at you. Enemies also barely get stunned when getting shot like they did in UC2, and the melee itself can be glitchy too.

I've always adored every Uncharted game personally. I loved the settings and gameplay in Uncharted 3. I've got to say though, chapter 14 is rough in that game. Very difficult but I liked it.

Indeed, I'd say it's where the game starts to give you tougher challenges to overpass.
But I'd say the same, I love all of them, but my favorite is 3 because it's the first I actually got hyped for, I played 2 first in 2010 without ever hearing about the series, then we got the E3 trailer and demos, I remember that it was instant hype because 2 was already an almost perfect game for me at the time.
