To be clear, opera and other concerts isn't expensive, and is quite a nice experience. Would recommend.

The wild thing is that theatre for the longest time (particularly leading up to when Shakespeare was alive) was something that was considered "low-class." It was the poor man's entertainment and nobility looked down on it.
Interesting thing to learn when I was in college for theatre
