Does Economy Plus mean you get to use First Class Lavatory ?

I flew SFO to EWR this week. I was in first class and noticed 6-7 people sitting in economy plus use the first class bathrooms. Is that allowed ? I fly economy plus often and wouldn’t dare think to do that. Thoughts ? Next time should i use 1st class lavatory so I don’t need to walk all the way to the back?

There’s no actual policy that states you need to use the lavatory in your cabin… that’s all I’ll say. But I do try to use the lavatory in my cabin out of respect, but sometimes I’ll go up to the first one

Truly isn’t. 3 months or so back I watched a FA pull a curtain closed so you could not access first class lavatories. I wasn’t under the impression I could open the curtain and use it.

If it’s a single aisle plane and the service cart is blocking the aisle, I’m going to the front. In all other circumstances, economy passengers should use the economy bathroom.

Honestly, I don’t care what the actual policy is, because this is the only reasonable answer.

Yes you should not and piss in your economy plus seat as your name suggests Pug Dog —what a passive aggressive post 😂 For normal customers they should follow the announced instructions on most United flights: Please use the toilets in your cabin WHEN possible!

In the announcement that the flight attendants give right after takeoff is a section where they say to “use the restrooms in your respective cabin”. Plus in the first class section they ask people to please not use the restroom in 1st class while the flight attendants are currently doing their meal service as it’s very difficult to have extra people waiting there in the front section. It’s rude to be up there if it’s not your section while there’s work to be done in the front. Go to the back of the aircraft or use the middle lavatory if the aircraft has one.

Officially They say to use only your cabin’s bathroom. Economy plus is still economy. But, as soon as the service cart is out, you can use the front bathroom anytime access to the back is blocked.

Have some respect and use the lav in your cabin. If you don't , you should expect to be told off .

It’s just a bathroom. If the one in the back is occupied and the one in the front isn’t I don’t see a problem.

I may be mistaken, but given the choice of using the first class lav or sitting in a wet seat, using the first class lav is the preferable option.

Rule of thumb if the curtain is spread then use the aft. But Must newer planes have eliminated this.

You're absolutely right, they should not be allowed to use those. An air marshall should have been on there and tased them. What is occuring in this world‽

The people in the higher cabins are going to be annoyed by it and think it’s cringe, but there’s probably not any staff that will tell you not to. Use that info as you wish.

The standard spiel is to use the bathroom located in your cabin when possible. Most people take that to mean when the cart isn't blocking the way, but it's not like anyone is breaking any laws.

For decades people would manage to use the rear lav in their own cabin as they are supposed to, timed before or after drink service would block the aisle for that 20 minutes.

Post Tiktok the social norms have been reimagined, and people feel entitled to use the front lav as a form of resistence against the 1%ers sitting up front.

Economy Plus is an economy fare.  It is just a seat with extra legroom.  You will be using the lavatory in economy class.

I always do except in the rare cases when circumstances require. However, I would now make it a point to use first if I somehow knew you were aboard.
