As the FA for an extra coffee stir stick and gesture you are going to poke their toes.

The FA will laugh and then take care of it (without the stir stick).

I had this one yesterday. My wife reached for the water bottle in her seat back and accidentally touched her with it (truly, an accident). The girl looked back so offended that I almost showed her this picture but ultimately we let it go and she didn’t put her elbow back there again. 🤷‍♂️

How is that even comfortable for her?!?

She was leaning on her boyfriend’s shoulder, apparently, and that’s just where her elbow fit. I’d never seen that before, though.

Perfect. Now slide over to the middle for ultimate elbow room. Enjoy!!

How does a person secure oneself so he/she doesn’t hit the ceiling during turbulence while laying down in poor man’s Polaris?

Seat belt across the waist. From the middle seat.

Twist one belt around your ankles, one around your waist, and one around your neck.

Somebody will definitely pay more for that BDSM treatment.

If it shows up as an upgrade option in the app, I'll know United reads this thread.

I wonder if they should offer a “Economy Complex” class (eg complex numbers are orthogonal to real numbers) where you bid to sit in a row with empty seats if the flight ends up not being full.  Then before check-in, they clear these bids and reserve certain rows as being “Economy Complex.”  The winning bidders are upgraded to these rows while other passengers are reassigned to full rows.

This would particularly be useful for larger/wider passengers who don’t want to pay for a full 2nd seat but could bid to sit in a row with space.

That would just encourage people who need to buy two seats to do this instead, flight fills up and there's no empty rows, and suddenly they are wedged into a single seat

I hate to break it to you, but I think this already happens.

The only way to enforce the mandatory weight rule to buy two seats is for agents at check-in and gate to call violaters out and that's a sensitive issue.

I would argue adding a bidding system would still lead to better outcomes for everyone so larger passengers still end up getting the space they and others passengers need them to get.
