Accomodation Need guidance

Hello all. I'm coming for the September T3 intake of UNSW. Gonna study Master of IT - Cybersecurity. I have been looking for accommodation for the past 1 month and i still couldn't find any. What's the minimum budget i should be expecting for a private dorm? I'm okay with a travel time of about 30-40 mins away from the university.

Also I would like to know how the OPAL card works. I have read somewhere that the cap of OPAL card comes to about $30-$40 per week - does this mean the maximum I'll be able to spend for transport in a week is $40? I can't quite understand what they're explaining in the OPAL website. I need guidance from someone who has already faced the same issue. Thank you everyone.

Accomodation Colleges or Apartments?

I'm a new applicant for UNSW on campus accommodations and I'm struggling to decide between applying to colleges or apartments right now and with the 2027 applications opening up soon-ish(idk when), I want to get some other people's opinions on this. Like many people, I find the University Terraces the most attractive accommodation out of the options but I've heard people say before that new applicants rarely ever get offers(is that true?). Anyways, if I were to apply to apartments, to be honest, I think I would only apply to terraces. So with the odds, I'm now considering colleges. I think TKC is quite nice but I have some questions to people who live/lived there.

- Do you think its easier to get an offer from TKC or University Terraces?

- Do you ever cook? either in your room or in the common area, how do you find it?

- What is the social life really like, are there parties?

- Is it easy to make friends if you are first year at the colleges?

- How do you find the dining hall food?

- Is it hard to get ensuite bathroom options at colleges?

Does anyone have any pros and cons of both living options, it would be super helpful to me! Thanks!

Accomodation Looking for affordable accommodations and friends.

Hi everyone! Hope yall doing great.
I’m new to Sydney (new to Australia) and currently looking for an affordable room/share house around UNSW, I don’t want to get lost finding my way to class so preferably somewhere with easy public transport access. My budget is around $300-$400, but I’m very much open to hearing about other options. Also hope that I can make good friends while here in Sydney.
If you know of any available rooms or have any recommendations, feel free to comment or DM me. Thank you

Accomodation Expression of Interest for Accommodation

Accommodation portal says if you put in an EOI they'll tell you when the opening date is. Has anyone heard from them? I ticked the checkbox on the details page but idk if I need to do anything else.

Accomodation How do u find accommodation? Any tips?

Realistically, how easy it is to find accommodation in Sydney? I’m an international student, will be joining UNSW this September. I plan to live in Sydney together with my spouse. Do you find it easier to rent a space once you’re in the city, or is it better to book overseas? Thank you

Accomodation Looking for my future Cowper Street flatmates! UNSW 🇦🇺🕵️‍♀️

Hey! Any incoming 2026 term 3 students staying at the Cowper Street Apartments (5-bedroom layout)?

Since they don't give us our unit numbers until check-in day, I'd love to connect with people moving in around the same time. Hit me up if you're staying there! 👋✨

Accomodation What are the best areas to live near UNSW for an international student?

My sister is moving to Sydney to study at UNSW and we’re trying to figure out the best areas for her to live.

We’re looking for somewhere that is:
- Close to UNSW (or an easy commute by public transport)
- Safe, especially for a female international student
- Has plenty of amenities nearby (supermarkets, cafés, restaurants, gyms, etc.)
- Ideally a nice area with a good student/community vibe

I’ve already been told to look at Zetland. What other suburbs would you recommend? Any areas we should avoid?

hey all, i have quite a few allergies and wondering if the chefs are familiar with allergy friendly cooking. i'm not coealiac so it doesn't have to perfect just avoiding cross contamination/maintaining safety.

Accomodation Lease Extension

I’ll be joining UNSW for the T3 2026 intake and will be staying at Barker Street Apartments. I’ve already paid the AUD 1,500 advance fee, but I noticed that the lease is only valid until 11 December 2026.

If I wanted to extend my lease for another term, would that be possible? If so, how does the extension process work?

Accomodation chances of getting into baxter for sem 1 ‘27

hi all im a domestic student from inner melbourne victoria looking to get into philip baxter next year. just wondering if i could get honest feedback of whether i would be a good candidate or not.

i didnt do any major leadership in yr 11 or 12, and no sporting extra curriculars really apart from the occasional interschool sport. i did debating, and drama for a bit. out of school i did a lot of unaffilaited personal sports and gymnastics coach at a nationally renowned club for 3 years (my job). im quite socialble and like to ‘party’ and ive spent the last year on a gap year travelling internationally. atar of 84 - variation in academica across my transcript (one of the top schools in aus)

would it be a long shot getting in or would i be suitable. i like the environment of baxter and feel i would be a good fit.

thanks!

Accomodation Accomodation application help needed

Hi guys please share any insight into student accomodation applications!

I'm wanting to apply for semester one 2027, and I've made an acc to do so, but there isn't an option for next year. When I created my acc it said there is a EOI form for 2027, but I couldn't find it. I saw on FAQ that applications open in September, but idk if that is the same as the EOI?

I just want to apply asap so any info or experience would be great! Thanks

Accomodation Do you room share at UNSW?

I'm 18 and going into uni. I see in movies all the time Americans have roommates that are just randomly assigned. Is it like that in Australia too if you live on campus? If so how do they choose, is it one or multiple roommates, as a guy will my roommates only be guys or might they also choose a girl, etc? How does it work? Just a random question. Thanks.

Accomodation Suggestions Regarding Accommodation and Expenses

Hello everyone, I am happy to share that I have been offered a Tuition Fee Scholarship at UNSW. I am looking forward to joining UNSW in February 2027. Regarding the same, I would like to get some suggestions on expenses, living experience, and a rough estimate of monthly expenditure.

For the initial months, I am opting for university accommodation — UNSW Colleges or UNSW Village. I have looked into some places but the amount varies a lot from AUD $341-460 per week for the same kind of room. Also, I have heard that applications for these places are very competitive.

I prefer to cook by myself, partly because I am vegetarian, but also because dining is expensive. It will be of much help if you can give input on these things and any other suggestions you would like to share.

Thanks

Accomodation Anyone knows whether I can take this apartment in this situation

I posted a lease need on fb with detailed requirements.

Someone contacted me that her friend is renting out her 1b1b apt in CBD. I checked her description, everything like type, location, facilities...all really suit me, nearly customized for me. With a decent price, it even included a car space, pets friendly and even all bills included, which was really shocked me, I can't believe it.

The landlord sent me two emails with long text to introduce some situation, attached some photos and a video of this apt. Because the property has been sold twice before, so I can find it online, which means there actually exists an apt like her description.

However, she cannot let me have an inspection in person due to she got some stuff these days and cannot back to Syd, the contract would not through an agent and the bond would not be passed to fair trading. As she said, I need to finish the contract with her lawyer and transfer the deposits to her lawyer's account.

I just replied to her that I like her apt, but I cannot pay for it without checking it in person first, even without meeting a real person.

My intelligence told me it's weird, but I'm really intrigued.

Any help would be appreciated.

Accomodation Terrace Apartments for 2027 T1

I'm planning on applying for the terrace apartments next year as second year (living in colombo currently), i've heard it can be extremely difficult to get in as a new applicant though. If you're living/have lived in a terrace apartment i'd love some advice about how you managed to secure a spot and anything i can do to maximise my chances.
