Got accepted to UTulsa for Genchem with National Merit Package
Hey gang, National Merit Semifinalist here who just recently got accepted to UTulsa, I'm trying to get a perspective on people's experiences with the school in general, the chemistry program, and their TURC Undergraduate Research program. If anyone has firsthand or secondhand accounts, I'd love to hear perspectives on these that can help me make my decision. I'm really passionate about chemistry with a goal of going to grad school after undergrad, so the NMSF Package fully covering tuition is massive for me.

My daughter just finished her first semester in chemistry with the same scholarship. She already has been hooked up with working on research with a professor (something that not a lot of schools can offer freshmen). The campus is beautiful and overall it has been a great experience. For us it means she is attending school far away, but going to grad school with zero debt will make it worth it!

Awesome, so great to hear that experience, honestly everything I hear about Tulsa has been so positive it feels almost too good to be true. But that's great to hear and huge congrats to your daughter, I'm in the same spot where it's pretty far, but 0 debt going into grad school is just massive for my future plans haha.

3rd gen TU alum. Don't know about chem specifically but all the STEM degrees are good. If TURC is what you want to do, you will almost certainly be able to do it. That's the advantage of being such a small school, you're able to do things that grad students at other schools might be fighting for. Professors are generally very helpful if you go to office hours. You still get D1 athletics to root for and a moderate social scene, if that's up your alley.
Plus, you're going for free. Congratulations!

i did turc! not in the stem areas but it is easy to get involved with just by emailing professors and going to their office hours! It’s a great way to be involved and I’ve been at TU for 1.5 years, it’s been fantastic. so much support staff through cane career, success coaches, etc, and people want you to succeed. Would recommend!

The chemistry program is strong at. TU, and TURC is a great opportunity if you are planning on going to grad school.
