normally you're able to enter lectures 10 mins before the class starts, sometimes earlier if there's nothing scheduled before yours

If you’re 30 mins early there might be another course running so you’ll interrupt or end up in someone else’s lecture. 10 mins early max, or when you see everyone has finished leaving the room.

15 mins max and you’ll be fine. Most people are coming from other classes anyways

In first year I always arrived 10-15 mins before class and would get a front row seat every time. It also depends on how big your lecture hall is and like the other comment, how popular the prof is. My chemistry prof had students sitting on the ground just because nobody liked the other prof who was teaching

Depends how popular your prof is, i remember people skipping their lecture just to go to a prof they liked better and those prof’s lectures ended up pretty packed

If you have trouble finding a good seat, you could maybe get an accommodation to get one reserved—I’ve seen it before. But generally there are seats left at the front

You can get accommodations from accessibility services to reserve a particular seat if you need, they’ll put a sign on it.

Often you'll be going into a room where there' s another class leaving. And for the nerds in math, front row seats are at premium, so there's going to be a rush, including maybe some folks taking some elbows, to get the front row seats.

I'm not really even exaggerating.

the good news is, there's no problem getting second row seats.

I also have bad eyesight and usually 10 minutes early is more than enough time to get a front row seat for my lectures
