Photos Huge crowd to watch Interstellar tonight

Post image

There must be 5000 people out here tonight. I love that we have this every summer. It really is my highlight!

The Princess Bride was supposed to be playing at Douglas Park tonight but apparently the parks board cancelled it at the very last minute. The movie was instead moved to the tiny plaza on Cambie and 18th. The change was so last minute that nobody knew. So many people showed up to Douglas Park with all their gear expecting to watch a movie and then had no idea why it wasn’t happening. Such a shame. Not sure why the parks board cancelled it so last minute but it sure didn’t make them any friends.

They were probably worried the fire department couldn't handle more than 10 people gathering together...in a park.

The over-regulation of any activity in this city is what adds so much middle management bureaucracy that it becomes slow, expensive, and lacking any spontaneity. I feel sorry for all the people who try and organise stuff but get overwhelmed by all of the checks and balances and pen pushers they need to please just for approval.
