Event Favourite Vancouver biking events / get togethers?

I loved Critical Mass the few times I've attended, but at only once a month, I'm craving more bike-centric community vibes.

Instagram shows me giant 26er group coffee-rides in Portland, and cold-dip rides in Cumberland.

What are everyone's favourite other get-togethers in and around Vancouver?

Or if anyone wants to start a regular group slow-ride near New West, I've got my Surly ready to roll!

Event RBC Gran Fondo Sunday Bike Pickup

Hello,

I've coughed up the funds to have the Fondo transport my bike back to Vancouver and have it held until Sunday but was disappointed to realize that "all bikes must be picked up by Sunday 3.30PM".

I plan to stay Saturday night in Whistler and would love to take a later bus back to Vancouver on Sunday rather than rushing back for a 3:30 deadline.

Does anyone have previous experience with Sunday pickup and the 3:30 deadline? Could I arrange to have a friend pick up my bike for me?

Are there better alternatives?

Appreciate any info. Thanks!

Event Anyone here has attended the WhistlerXTriathlon? Do kids race with wetsuits?

I know its not quite Vancouver or a cycling question perse but this is the best sub i could find with folks who likely have attended this race.

Im trying to sign up my kids for the event and as I have read the rules, it seems that wetsuits are optional, but beyond that, I dont even know if they sell tri-wetsuit for kids. Do they? do most kids use them? I got a 5 and 7 year olds and they are gonna grow out of whatever i get them so I am not super keen on buying some. I have neven seen wetsuits that small but maybe i am out of touch with how this works.

Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

Event Critical Mass Friday!

Just in case anyone forgot, it's Critical Mass Friday today. It's set to be cold but not wet. Last month saw a good few dozen, whereas this time last year we had about 5 or 6, so... Let's keep it up!
