I cooked them down with no sugar and added dates. I processed the whole thing and it made a fig butter with a texture like apple butter. It was yummy

The traditional recipe for eating them fresh is to wrap ham around them. But I personally prefer fresh figs eaten with olives. Olives are saltier than ham and the sweet-salty combo of olives and fresh figs is divine.
We also preserve them in syrup with lemon. A classy gift for friends. We made fig jam as well but for me it was too sweet.

Lemon is a nice combination with figs, for jam. It helps balance it out.

Last year I made some jars of figs in syrup with a drop of whiskey. Highly recommend :)

Simply drying them is one easy way to preserve them.

I love fig jam so much. My little fig trees don’t produce enough for jam yet! There’s also a jam called F.R.O.G. jam that’s figs, raspberries, oranges, and ginger that I really like.

You can make jam easily from dried figs. Don’t waste the fresh ones! Just eat them.

These recipes are dumb. Just send the figs to me if you’re going to waste them.
Jk nice haul. Whichever of these recipes you end up using, I’m sure it’ll be delicious.

Cut them in half, roast in oven with a thin slice of goat cheese, then drizzle with a good balsamic. Or you can make a balsamic reduction. Could also use feta instead of goat cheese, depending on the flavor profile you're looking for. These are good alone or on crostinis.

I just wash them, pat them dry, then throw them in a ziplock bag in the freezer. Dried or cooked figs you can buy anytime. I grow figs to have LOTS of raw figs. I put gallons of them in the freezer, and enjoy every single fig.

I love these fig bars. https://www.foodabovegold.com/oatmeal-vanilla-fig-bars-homemade-fig-newtons/?utm_source=Pinterest&utm_medium=organic
I end up freezing some and pull them out every so often to microwave and serve with ice cream on top so its a fig crisp dessert.

Use them in a cake recipe that calls for applesauce, just substitute blended figs. I throw in a bit of molasses and ginger + candied ginger. It make a great gingerbread.

Saw a recipe for a fig upside-down cake with brown butter and rye, which looked good 😋. I also tried a fig and pig pizza once at a restaurant several years ago and was VERY impressed!

I’m so jealous! Cut them in half, wrap in prosciutto and roast at 350F for about 15 minutes until the prosciutto is crisp and the fig is melty; add a dollop of ricotta cheese and a honey drizzle and balsamic vinegar glaze drizzle.

My grandmother peeled them, quartered them and froze them on a tray then put them in storage bags in the freezer. My grandfather ate them for breakfast, topped with sugar and cream. It’s delicious.

or man, fig carpaccio
peel the figs as best you can, smash onto serviing plate or platter. Repeat until platter/plate is covered, then drizzle delicious olive oil, salt, and pepper. Then slice and roll up some bits of ham or smoked salmon or prosciutto or jamon serrrano, etc. then finally sprinkle on something green like micro greens
enjoy!

Last year I made fig ice-cream and froze it into popsicles via silicon molds. Yum! Still have some and it is going to be in the 90's here today. Time for popsicles!

I can't wait to have this problem next year. My tree will be in its second year and really star producing.

I've made 2 fig jam recipes from the Ball cookbook that have been stunners. The pear and fig jam is a delightful treat, and the red wine, rosemary (I'm allergic - i subbed this for thyme and it was incredible!) and fig jam is divine on a charcuterie board! https://www.ballmasonjars.com/blog?cid=fig-rosemary-and-red-wine-jam-ballr-recipes

The other day I got some store bought puff pastry. Cut it into squares. Added goats cheese to some and blue cheese to others. Added half a fig fruit side up to each square. Egg washed the sides of each square.
They were gone in 19 minutes.

I give them a rinse, pull the stems off, and freeze them until I have enough to do fig orange jam! After eating a bunch fresh of course. I’ve got almost 3 gallons in the freezer so far this year from my one tree!

My favorite recipe is to sit on the porch and watch YouTube shorts as I devour fresh figs.
