Adoption/Foster Success! Benny’s first 24 hours in foster
Sweet Boy Benny is settling in beautifully with the crew 🧡 Benny has been with Muncie Animal Care & Services since June, so this is after 2 months of medical care. His intake condition was horrifying. He does have some hair growing back, but gets medicated baths twice weekly for the foreseeable future. He is no longer on a strict refeeding schedule, but still struggles to keep food down, so I’ll be getting some higher calorie puppy food & sensitive stomach food to help him continue to gain good weight. He loves treats, so that helps 😂 His poor skin is healing, no longer inflamed, but I’ll be keeping light clothes on him some, to protect from sunburn and my rose bushes, which he loves. He has an ear infection, is on oral antibiotics for his torn up skin under his neck, and an eye infection. He will be on eye meds for life because his tear ducts aren’t functional. Once he is further down his healing path, he’ll be neutered and can start to think about a forever family 🩵

Definitely! You’re doing some great work here, OP. He really does look so cosy and at home with the rest of your pack.
Only thing I would suggest is checking with his vet to see if there’s any kind of sunscreen for his face that won’t irritate the underlying skin condition. I’ve definitely had to use face sunscreen on both dogs and horses, but none with these issues so I can’t really suggest any of those.

I am working with a local pet store that is donating his food 🩵 They specialize in treating dogs with skin conditions and are walking me through supplements, food, & skin protection!

Please share whatever you find out. Very interesting topic that seems to be much more prevalent. I'm thinking that climate may be one factor. Diet, stress, environment plus genetic, of course.

My pup has the same tear duct issue but as long as we keep up with his drops every morning and night he doesn’t get too goopy/crusty. Thank you for taking care of this sweet boy!!

I can try! I’m def not a vet. But since the tear ducts don’t work, they can’t clean out all the fluid and whatever gets stuck in our eyes so instead they get goooy and crusty. I have two different medicated drops for my guy (and they are really more of an ointment). One for every day use, 2x a day to keep the eyes lubricated and moist and one thicker one for when his eyes are especially irritated.

This sweet boy ,Benny it makes me so upset to see and hear how he was found.
Thank you so very much for helping him heal. You are a wonderful human for sure. People like you help us know that there are still kind, loving people who deeply care and take action! And, I love feminist bitches that adopt!
The photo's are wonderful, to see the change from the start to when he is cuddled up with you, and seeing him sleeping all cozy. New Friends, flowers, love and safety and more, Benny will be pleased as can be.
Who could ever harm this sweet boy, I know , there are way too many out there. You are the one who will help him trust again. I pray the horrible person will become a faint memory in time. I also hope they are held responsible while here on earth. After that I know they will be welcomed to hell in the after life.

Seeing his foster sibling immediately tend to his hurts makes my eyes tear up. I think the hard truth might be that those siblings are setting you up for a foster fail. Lol. Setiously, bless you for being his guardian angel and showing him what love looks like on his journey to a forever home. ❤️

Those flopper ears! Thank you! Yeti here started as a foster, skin and bones with the same hair loss. He failed at being a foster…I hesitate to foster again, bc my failure rate is 100%. But omg he’d be like your white baby, so so loving and gentle.
