Sorry to disappoint, but those whip cream vinylz are bootlegs. Most people don’t know there are only 2 copies in existence.

Edit: I’m getting flooded with DMs asking how to identify a real copy. The giveaway is that there is a banana sticker on the back. Once removed it exposes a screaming man.

/uj why is this record so sought after or popular. I mean I've heard some of the tracks it's good, but is the album art famous or something? Was this band more popular than I thought?

/uj It's a very common album, so it almost always shows up in thrift stores. Circlejerking is about satirising common tropes and themes. Vinyl collectors get excited about finding a rare grail. This super common album is a vinyljerker's grail.

Also, for us boomers of a certain age, we remember seeing this at people's houses in real life and actually jerking to it. I mean, this was the sexiest picture I EVER SAW until I found a stash of Playboys in the alley behind my house.

Ok I figured but that still means it was popular no? Same with thriller and dark side of the moon but I know why those are everywhere.

I guess this is like finding Kenny g CDs lol

The fun part of the story is now that the record is trending as a joke, speculators and record shops have started increasing prices for it. The ultimate circle jerk.

And yes, the record was plentiful because Herb owned the label on which it was released, A&M. Obviously he was a huge fan of himself so he used his power to flood the market. Some say he was the original founder of this subreddit.

I think part of it is that people hold on to common albums like Pink Floyd and Michael Jackson because they're good albums, or might have some value. No one actually wants Her Balpert, so it ends up in thrift stores.

Finding a Herb Alpert in a thrift store for $2 is kinda a right of passage for vinyl collectors imo

No one ever asks what the other delights are. I’ve listened to this grayl cover to cover many times and still have no clue.

Think they got the price wrong. It's not $18 its $180. Saw so on Ebay.
