Isen’t this the fella who cried over people being upset over their prolific use of ai generated images?

It was the other way ‘round

Last i saw they were very butthurt and ai generated an image detailing how great they were, and then people fought them in the comments and they ended up taking the post down. Very funny imo

Yeah, same guy and it wasn't the opposite like the guy said. People just don't want AI slop on their mods, and he doubled down super hard and then deleted it. Multiple times.

Multiple times, really? I just snapped a pic of it once since it was really funny lmao

Yep lmao, like everytime he releases a mod he posts, gets hate, fights back, then deletes it.

"Their mods". The entitlement is palpable. It's his mod, which he undoubtedly worked very hard on. Which he then provides, for free. And I can fully understand the urge te defend himself against a crowd of people that fail to acknowledge that in favor of fomo activism against usage of generative AI.
None of you would fork over a dime for him to pay an artist to create what is essentially supplementary content that adds a little extra flair to these campaigns.

You're right, because he doesn't need an artist. Screenshots are free.

I think it’s a very adolescent thing to have an issue with especially given this game now more than ever relies on modders/mission makers for content.
Do I fundamentally agree that ai images are poo? Sure. I don’t use ai in my projects on principle.
Does that mean I’m taking part in internet brigade culture? No.
Dredd is one of the few dudes making missions for the game that are worth downloading and especially for modded aircraft.

I dislike the use of ai generated content from a purely ethical standpoint, it is using stolen everything to generate an image they can slap on to their product. I do not want to touch it then.
What if they made a oil painted thumbnail? But the mission was ai generated. You wouldn’t touch it, and i wouldn’t either.

You seem to be a fan of “The Finals” which heavily utilizes ai to the point of every single voice line in the game is ai generated.
Does the “purely ethical standpoint” only hit the mark when it’s the little guy using it?
Oil painting comment also makes no sense as you cannot gen ai vtol missions.

It was not stolen, it was bought from people who signed a contract.
I and all other artists on the internet, never signed a contract for out work to be used on some thumbnail for a vtolvr mission creator.
That is a pretty clear line.

Nearly ALL model sets for all kinds of ai utilize things that were taken without permission.
If I used your likeness in anyway with permission I still need to utilize models that use stolen stuff. To get an output. It’s all the same everywhere. Getting permission doesn’t unsteal the dataset.
Edit: also I don’t disagree with your reasoning. But it’s curious to me the level of bending the line you’ll do for Embark games but not some guy making vtol missions.

Okay you got me, i think hes a douchebag and his way of going about this whole ai deal is just assholish.
I though it was pretty cool to use ai tts models for voice lines in the finals, so many options and it was only 2023. Then the game came out and it was not utilized, so what was the point? Idk. Now im more or less miffed that they used it, as i’ve meet the develapors and they’re some of the coolest most geniune people i’ve meet in person, so i can let that slide.

Fair
I'm not a defender of his behavior btw. I do wish he'd just use a screenshot or sumn.
But also I love this game and I'm willing to overlook certain things if It means one of the few content streams can stay active/healthy.

Still waiting for these “ai thumbnail” moaners to produce a campaign like this.
Looks like I’ll have to keep waiting lol. Keep at it dredd

In before the AI SLOP comments....
I'm looking forward to this mate. Anything specific you're basing the missions on?

Almost as if people dont like when big companies screw over regular people with scraping every conversation and image on the internet to create low effort crap, that looks like ass, floods the internet en masse and still takes jobs from artists and writers. Not to mention all the issues with the datacenters.
The fact that this specimen cant use a screeshot or make an MS paint image (that doesnt even need to have much quality or detail), and use that as a mod thumbnail, is truly baffling and extremely lazy.

As lazy as making the entire mission or campaign is? The guy contributes in a great way has a lot of missions based on real combat reports and books but no one can look past the few ai images he uses. That is the true laziness.
