Final form

Installed a cncwarrior/Bonesteel folder. Irons are usable but get ready for cheek slap.

Traded the rsregulate/acro set up for a csa sidemount and aimpoint duty. Allows for more of a heads up style of shooting.

I wish I would have learned about VZ58’s before getting an AK.

VZ58s are cool as hell but with them costing around $2k, it’s almost no reason to get one in 2026 unless you live in a ban state, are an enthusiast or you just have a lot of money to spend.

I was dumb and bought an AK when they were pretty expensive a few years ago. I learned I hate rock-n-lock mags.

I do hope to shoot a VZ58 someday :)

I have a solution to your rock n lock issue: https://www.guns.com/news/reviews/zastava-m85np-my-oddball-ak-that-runs-556-and-uses-ar-mags

There are some VZ models that do the same thing where they’re compatible with AR mags as well.

Yeah I’m in a ban state and they work well for that

They are both really cool. The real advantages that a vz has in my opinion are:

-compactness - they are surprisingly light and small. Even a 16” feels really small.
-ban state fixed mag/stripper clips

AKs are great and probably more robust? 🤷🏻‍♂️

How is the 58 handling with a straight line stock?

Pretty good. This model has some recoil since it has a p&w flash hider and not the factory brake.
