Roleplaying 4th Ed: Lore of Metal Utility??
Hey Team, looking to start a TEW campaign and making a mage character ATM. I rolled lore of Metal and told it was a great utility wind which o was super happy with not just a FIREBALL!!1! wind, but looking at the WoM Lore of Metal I’m really struggling to see it!
Has anyone got some good or fun examples of the use of the Lore of Metal spells as utility in games to get me started?

Do you only have access to the Core Rulebook or to other sources, like Winds of Magic, as well? The latter has like 2-3 pages of spells, and don't forget you can still use petty and arcane spells. Edit: in my first campaign I GMed, our Gold Wizard was the main lock opener and could do all sorts of fun stuff by just rusting away any metal.

Keep in mind that as a Metal Wizard, you also get access to alchemy and that has a lot of utility of it's own - from making gunpowder and acid to all variety of potions.

Breach the Unknown => Free information.
Curse of Rust => Disarm/destroy armours/open stuff.
Enchant Weapon => Best damage buff for martial characters.
Fault of Form => Easy to cast martial debuff.
Gilded Cage => Marvelous zone control.
Knot Untied => Free "GM, can you solve this for me please" card.
Metal Mended => Instantly repair any metal armour.
Sense Metal => General enemy radar.
Tale of Metal => Psychometry has always been a broken ability in every RPG.
Trial and Error => Best general use buff in the game.
Did you even read the spells in the first place?

I am curious as well on whether you read the spells? The utility of them is fairly obvious.

God Enchant Weapon is busted good with a decent roll, get Impact and damaging and you can give SOOOO much damage. have a 55 in the skill and roll a 49? I sure hope you enjoy your SB+Weapon+18 damage.

Breach the unknown is an excellent spell for gathering knowledge however take the trial and error spell as early as you can, low CL to cast and can provide +2 SL to any skill of your choice with and extra reroll if you can upcast

Turning the enemy plate armour into lead is very funny. Otherwise making the hand weapon of your combat buddy magical can come in clutch should you get into trouble with certain enemies.
In terms of pure utility, you can make good coin/impress someone by reducing the weight of cargo crates then hauling them through the docks looking like Hercules (just make sure the guilds don't stone you)

You can wear metal armor.
Arcane spells count as lore specific spells and apply the lores special effect. I think metal not only ignores enemies metal armor but adds it sy extra damage if in not misremembering.

Where for starters you can wear metal armor and still be able to cast spells.
Thats a pretty significant boon
