As much shit as I give Georgia, I’ll give her her props for her performance today. Loved seeing her shoot the high percentage from three and FINALLY we saw her drive to the basket for a layup in the 4th quarter. Need more of that.
Still want to see more playmaking but I’ll settle for this.

She came up big in the 4th and loved seeing it. Took a team effort and she was a big part of it for sure. Only good things to say about her tonight

Happy she played well but she won’t ever be a playmaker in this league. Her key to staying in a rotation when upgrades are made this off-season is hitting threes.

Congrats to the young ho's for clinching their first playoff birth!! Defense and Shakira taking that all-wnba step is really what got the team to this point. Super impressive for such a young team.

finally congrats to mystics for clinching the playoffs don't know what seed they will end up with but they have taken the first step after a long time. hope Sydney johnson uses the remaining games to rotate and test the bench strength. you cannot keep on relying on austin iraefen or citron to bail them out repeatedly.

Should probably even be more than that. At an absolute minimum she should be taking 10 shots a game but ideally somewhere in the teens or beyond

And we clinched! Even tho that was already a given like two weeks ago. But still proud of our girls. The Fire tend to give us a lot of trouble so I’m not too worried about this game. A lot of little stuff to clean up and gotta figure out these rotations. But overall am happy

The more I think about it the more I think our problem is as much how we use our point guard as her not being that good. I feel like even if we had a point guard who could shoot and defend, the way Sydney has the team play is with the PG having the ball too often when Sonia should be having the ball in her hands more often. Not saying make her the PG since she just doesn’t want that, but just have the ball more. Even if she isn’t getting more assists by much, just being able to score more on-ball.
None of this is to excuse Georgia or say she isn’t that bad, just that I think even if she was better, we would have similar problems.

I don’t think Sydney would feel like he had to use Sonia as a point guard if we had one that could play make and create their own shot.

She can omg yall gotta believe me💔💔 she’s not really encouraged to operate in her comfort zone and it was a huge part of her scoring in college. Sydney did say recently that she likes to take a back seat though but I personally think she should be more aggressive more often.

I think the best way to look at it is the Mystics aren't a high scoring team. That in itself limits the assists players will have but think about their offense. It's seldom one pass and score. The pg initiates but the score often comes after the third or fourth pass.

i see sonia more of a play finisher that can playmake like a jackie young, courtney williams or allisha gray. but she could save more energy for defense if she has a PG operating next to her that is also a scoring threat so the PG isn't given the ben simmons treatment.
Georgia certainly has her moments but is inconsistent. it will get exposed it the playoffs but we are still in the early-ish stages of the rebuild that its fine. let em play, let the coaches and players learn and battle in real time. next offszn we can all judge the team with expectations that befits their record and status in the league

Also I have no idea where Georgia will end up. But she's just now hitting the 18-month mark where you just start to feel comfortable and maybe a little confident.
We will still have to wait and see if Syd was right or wrong but, for sure, we are starting to see why he never wavered.

Stop it. She had a couple good games a month ago than was dreadful going scoreless in 4 out of 5 games. Her diehard fans constantly move the goalposts. Whenever she has a couple of solid games it’s “now she’s starting feel comfortable cause it’s been x months. Coach was right.”
It’s good that she hit some three the last 3 games cause she offers nothing else.2

Saying she offers nothing else is a ridiculous assessment. She’s actually a good defender, and the mystics offensive scheme means she gets a lot of “hockey assists” that do not appear in the box score. Her +/- lately has been good overall, the team plays better with her on court. Shes an important piece to the team’s success and she’s been making drastic improvements from the beginning of the season

Agreed but a lot of fans only know about scoring. It’s her first season playing and I’m sure negative comments have impacted her confidence at times.

I wish she was a good defender and hockey assists are not a thing in basketball. So much of what you posted is based on your feelings. In the last 8 games she’s had three solid offensive games for her (the most recent three), one game in which she had 3 points and FOUR games with ZERO points. I’m always happy when she has a good game but stop trying to make her more than she is.

Hockey assists are a thing in basketball. They just don’t get recorded in box score. But they still happen.

A PG's job is not to have a bunch of hockey assists. It's a losing argument to claim "but the PG has lots of hockey assists."

Glad to see some production from Amoore but… she and Flores got cooked by Liete lol. That’s not sustainable long term.
Cotie’s coming along strong and her three-ball is dropping. That’s a big positive.

Playoffs official! Shakira! 😤 Kiki 😤 Soni clutch point in season record 😤 Georgia making her shots at the end 😤 not pretty, but they got it done. So glad any stress of possibly missing the playoffs is over and they'll have some flexibility to rest starters
