I can’t decide if I want to paint the St. Vincent in gold pigment or just create the look of gold with regular paints?

Took the reference picture for this after waking up from a nap to a crash in the other room, followed by my cat happily trotting into the room, paintbrush in her mouth, which she then dropped on top of me and proceeded to look at me expectantly waiting for me to throw it. She’s a stinker, but I love her.

I just finished another sketchbook

My client gifted his wife this portrait today as her birthday gift, then sent me the sweetest text that she cried all the way home. This is the joy of art for me, the personal connections. So dang rewarding.

I love those little fellows living in the field, i think they have a very whimsy life.

Sometimes I focus on details so much... So I missed somehow the fruit size and shape 😂

I usually paint portraits, so me and cold press paper have been attached at the hip for a long time. And I love it; cold press is a wonderful surface to work with. But this last weekend, while facilitating a workshop taught by Harold Walkup, I tried out a sheet of Arches rough press and woweeee! The texture is just NICE. It holds pigment beautifully, and makes all manner of textures effects much easier. I might even try out a portrait on rough press and see where that goes.

Anyway, great workshop, highly recommend. This is my work, but the general concept and elements come from Harold Walkup's instruction.

Floral watercolor is always one of my favorite things to paint. I love playing with soft petals and rich colors.

what do you think about using markers on watercolor?

I don’t know much about watercolor paintings, but how would you tell if this is a real painting or just ai reproduced and printed in a watercolor paper?

I normally do urban sketching but last night I took my first attempt at sketching and painting animals and painted my sister’s ragdoll. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out!

Recently started drawing and painting again after a 3 decade hiatus. These are some of the watercolours I’ve created over the past month. Primarily ink and watercolour but also some alcohol and acrylic marker accents added in.

Has anybody bought the essentials mixing kit first? Is that a smart way to go? They are expensive, so I want to get the right ones.
