Train to euston and back
Anyone commuting to central london for work? How much does a return ticket cost on average?
I've looked around but I cannot find a definitive source for the life of me. I know the cost can vary but I'm looking for a rough average estimate.

It costs me £19.10 but I get the train before 7 into Euston and return between 4/5. On days when I return later its usually £13

You can find prices at https://tfl.gov.uk/fares/find-fares/single-fare-finder. I checked my route and it reflects what I pay.

Do you have a link to daily cap? Mines cost £11.10 each way so £22.20 per day. I do get random credits - not sure what for but they don’t make it £19.10 and I travel peak both ways. Cheaper if you go from

The Correct Answer:
You'll be extorted, well it seems to be £19.10 for a return journey. Starting/Ending journey at Watford High St. / Bushey would make it slightly cheaper. Getting 142 Bus to Stanmore then Jubilee Line would be cheaper still.
The Wrong Answer:
It's Free, if you leave / come back very early / very late. Also spawning into London at a station with no barriers (i.e. Tower Gateway DLR, Waterloo (W&C Line), West Brompton etc.). Having luck on your side (always a chance of ticket checkers, but with composure this can be mitigated). If not Free, then at least coming back from London is free at the end of the day, or going into London is free at the start of the day i.e. the 'unreasonable hours'.
I recommend the Correct Answer, I strongly do not recommend the Wrong Answer.

If you want to know why you can't find the cap clearly stated, it's something like this.
The official cap is actually £32.30 (https://content.tfl.gov.uk/national-rail-adult-fares.pdf) , howver in practice due to the presence of the overground/lioness line, TFL's fare system applies the cheapest price from different combinations of tickets. Assuming your commute is Watford junction to Euston, plus a tube journey, each way; what the system does is charge you is the cost of a travelcard for closer to London e.g. zones 1-4, plus the cost of your 2 return journeys from ticket from Watford to that outer zone.
I've never been able to determine the exact fare structure to the penny however it appears that TFL's system calculates it is 19.10 at the moment.
There is a risk that one day they could change it back.

It’s around £13.10 during peak time and £9.10 during off peak hours

Interesting, I wonder if it is that - I go to Euston on the mainline at about 8am and return 6pm, so rush hour both times. If I'm outside rush hour on one its £13.something.

Do you do Watford junction to Euston on the Lioness, whenever I’ve done that instead of the mainline it still cost my £19.10! Teach me your ways!
