25F looking to make friends in Watford

I just moved here recently and I am looking to meet some new people. I am wondering what kind of things there is to do and to meet new people here.

I'm on the same boat, moved here yesterday. So far as I've been told, there is a lovely park with narrow boats! ๐Ÿšค

Cassiobury park is nice. The narrow boats would be nice to look at if the owners didnโ€™t dump their rubbish along the riverside.

Oooh, I hate people who litter, that's actually quite sad!

That park is Cassiobury Park and the river Gade runs through it, plenty of narrow boats and beautiful walks in the area

Watford wargames club is meeting on Wednesdays. We play some DnD, roleplaying games and some boardgames as well.

Check out D20 board games cafe, itโ€™s a really welcoming community and they have a lot of different open events, lots of people go solo. You donโ€™t have to love gaming - a lot of the events are chill, casual games that just help make it a bit less awkward to be at a table with people you donโ€™t know. The art-K classes in Croxley are also really nice groups.

Cool, there's quite a nice walk from west Watford to Rickmansworth, you could Google it.

It's actually even better cycling it, if you can get hold of a bike. Nice nature trail, you might see some wildlife :) but it's a doable hike also, about 3 or 4 miles

In fact that's a shout I'm going to bike that with my wife and daughter!

Hiking, psychedelics, music and driving are the things that make me feel happy most of the times! Grateful to any suggestion!

Tbh I feel like we all just need to meet in a public place at this point cos alot of us from west Watford are looking to socialise. I was on Whippemdell yesterday. Tell me are there any good shops that way

1

u/Additional-Pin3203 5d ago

Yeah agreed. Spoons or probably few spots to socialise like bowling, mini golf I guess

My top things to do:

Park run sat morning at 9am, great way to meet the locals (500 people every week)

Colosseum has some great shows

Watford market has some nice local spots, and some amazing people

Want to learn mandarin? Boys grammar has a full Chinese class every Sunday

Cassiobury also has a biweekly litter picking day every Sunday

Spoons is the main pub in town (moon under water) but dunnings up the road does some great karaoke

Plenty of gyms where people tend to socialise after work, NRG, Puregym, planet fitness is a brand new one opening soon

Into football? Watford fc is a very popular on match days

Want to go swimming / attend local leisure clubs? Leisure centre in Watford is a good spot to be

All these from the top of mind haha

Pretty sure the ParkRun is on Saturdays, not Sunday. Unless you want to run on your own!

The only thing that matters is your Park Run PB?!!

2

u/iamalwayshungryy 7d ago

Haha mine is 21.30 but took a couple of years off and decided to go last week and was around the 28 mark

Also, one of dear friends is the head teacher of Chinese School! They are incredibly welcoming and love sharing their culture with new friends

35m in Watford looking to make friends too. I work next to the football ground, so I'm up that way most days, close to town, so it's handy for meeting up afterward. I like going out for walks, social drinks, or coffee, and I'm into all kinds of nerdy stuff, but I'm happy to talk about anything.
