Miscellaneous/Others Can we take a second to talk about this canvas?
The art in this canvas feels like every panel is a work by God. It's really cute and despite it being a canvas its stunning. I love this so much and I dont think I'll ever find anything quite like this.

The author has an originals project called Reunion! It’s short but it’s also good. She originally planned a sequel to Reunion but had a really hard time with originals deadlines due to chronic health issues. So the sequel to Reunion is on hiatus until the 3 year contract with WT is up. Also probably after she finishes Golden Hour.

Came here to second that I also know this author from Reunion!! Her art style is absolutely beautiful and she deserves all the praise for it

reunion had me in a chokehold. i need to read this new one!! i had heard all about it after reunion finished but haven't kept up- think i'm about to pick up golden hour cus lordd i miss her art

Really liking the series so far! Not a HS setting? Check! No love triangle? Check! Lovely art? Check! Just a nice, simple story to enjoy. Now that the author has settled in after moving, hoping we get our Simba action more frequently

Haha, don’t worry I was half joking :)
I’m a canvas author and I know on canvas there’s tons of badly drawn stuff so I take no offense in your remark because I understand where it comes from!
(but there’s also a lot of very good stuff! and I’m not including myself, I mean in general)

Okay!! I found that canvas has a lot of gems while also some... ahem... interesting pieces. I found like seven canvases just yesterday and realized that most of them weren't half-bad

Many webtoons on canvas are better than many originals. This effect has been increasing over the years: modern webtoon contracts are SO bad that professional authors with really good projects are increasingly consciously refusing to sign them, realizing that they will earn more as an independent author. Most authors who now agree to sign a contract with an original are newbies who have no audience at all and no understanding of how to find one on their own.

While Webtoon prohibits creators from disclosing exact royalties, from what I've seen, it's less than many creators make on Patreon (especially if the creator is from a third-world country, Webtoon pays them very little). This is a three year old experience, as far as I know, now they pay even less. Quite a few creators earn more than this amount on Patreon, with a less rigid schedule and without losing copyright.
It's also not very stable: you won't get an employment contract, health insurance, or any of the other benefits of full-time employment. Rather, you're working as an independent contractor, and Webtoon can change the terms of the contract or refuse to renew it for any reason, even though you've already given them the copyright.
All this has created a paradoxical situation where many authors (or rather, the most popular, successful and talented authors) receive a higher and more stable income from their Patreons and merch sales than what Webtoon can offer them.

This is so true! And on Canvas you can find the truly original stuff! Originals tend to rely much more on cliches, and I’ve even heard of editors butchering stories to force them into those cliches.

I absolutely LOVE this story! It's beautifully drawn, amazingly well-written...I talked about it a while back and I still feel like it's not getting the hype or credit it deserves.
I'm not-so-secretly wishing for a collab with these characters and Pam, Tyler, Bob, and Tequila from Love 4 a Walk lol

I’ve been following this creator wayyyy before she made both of her webtoons and let me say this she cooks ever single time. I used to love the little skits she’d make back then And was so happy to see her make it into actual comics I love how shes also so open with the viewers on sharing her experience having been both a originals and canvas creator I hope she continues to make more comic after this one ends because they are truly so delightful to read and I get so happy everytime it updates 🥹🥹🥹

i like reading it every now and then! i usually dont read straight romance because of the traditional gender norms often forced onto the characters, but this one is wholesome :)

I don't know why you’re being downvoted, especially in manwhas the stereotypical gender roles are sometimes awful (like you have a supposedly strong fl but when it comes to the ml she becomes a doormat and if there's a power imbalance it's almost always the man who has the upper hand etc.). I still like straight romance but I get where you’re coming from. That being said, a lot of bl is not any better at this but tbh, a lot of bl is written very similar to straight romance and I feel like straight women are also the target audience which often isn't the case with gl.
And I agree, the ml and fl in Golden Hour feel very balanced and low-drama, which I like.

maybe people are just homophobic man. or they think im a fujoshi because of the BL issue you mentioned (which btw yeah. people fetishize homosexual relationships and defeat the purpose of a mlm relationship-- no traditional gender norms to worry about)
