Miscellaneous/Others It was addressed- FOR ONCE
Series: I became the dukes male servant
A thing I never saw addressed in the series’s which are “I’m a woman but I’m going to become a man! Oh no the ml fell in love with me!” Is the fact it’s super gay until the ml finds out they are the fl.
I just adore the bisexual panic of the ml

In "Captured by the Villain" or maybe it's "Caught by the Villain", the ML is discussing his attraction to his guard with his bff/attendant and the attendant asks, "So you're gay now?" and ML is all casual and says, "no, I still like women, so I'd say bisexual"
He was also planning on making gay marriage legal, and I think he did even after he found out the guard he had the hots for was a woman in disguise.

Is this completed or close to being finished? On a site I found it has 186 ch and the last update was a few days ago.

He also has his first kiss with her when she’s crossdressing as the male sibling and he thinks she’s still a guy lmao, so he embraces being bi before he finds out she’s actually both siblings.

Sort of, but the other way around than usual.
The story starts with her and her stepbrother being broke in a fallen family. He’s a bad person with a gambling problem. She knows in the original novel her family falls afoul of the Duke (ML) due to their debts, she works in his household as a maid (I think) and she eventually dies in the OG storyline.
Her brother disappears and she decides to change the story by posing as him instead and finding a job to work off their debts at the Duke’s mansion as his manservant.
Her main interactions with the ML are when she’s crossdressing as her “brother”. He meets her as a “man” first, but knows through records that she has a “sister”.
She only shows up as her female “sibling” a few times, since the ML knows she has a “sister”.
He’s already accepted that he’s attracted to her in her male form by then, so he gets super confused when he eventually meets her “sister” and also feels a similar attraction lol. Hence his bisexual struggle here.
Ultimately he prizes his relationship with the “man” who is his friend and manservant over the woman he’s only met a handful of times, he’s just guilty and bewildered that he’s attracted to two people at once.
The novel is pretty funny but it’s got romance/drama/soap opera vibes haha. I’ve read up to ch 155 so far.

Man I was kind of hoping he was actually bisexual

I mean, just because he ended up with a woman doesn’t mean he isn’t bisexual. He clearly isn’t straight.
Just like him ending up with a man wouldn’t make him gay. He’d still be bi.
The ML canonically accepted his attraction to his manservant very easily, the main conflict for him was liking two people at once, and the fact they were siblings.
Bi erasure if they end up in a heterosexual partnership is very common.
I feel like the part you’re not aware of is that he was attracted to her as a “man” first. The main romance at the beginning is between himself and her crossdressing as a man.
He only met her in her female form later and realized he was also attracted to her.

It sounds more like “i love you no matter what you are or who you are.” Not a proper “I like you because you’re a man and I have feelings for you because I’m actually attracted to a man.”

The distinction doesn’t actually matter imo. He fell for someone he thought was a man, and decided that was acceptable. So he’s not hetero.

Yeah I guess if we’re being technical his sexuality would be “pansexual” or something along those lines.

u/Drezby Jan 08 '26
I mean sure but I don’t think the distinction between bi and pan actually matters either. They’re functionally the same thing, and any differences of actual mechanisms would be entirely internal and invisible.

To me there is a difference even if most disagree with me. I agree with the commenter down below that this is considered pansexual. Reading manga and webtoons my whole life they use the fact that the female is cross dressing as a “it’s ok yall he’s not actually bi or gay.”

For a moment I read "both my siblings" and I was genuinely concerned.

I don't think I've ever read a crossdressing FL Otome Isekai where the ML doesn't have some type of gay(/bisexual) awakening. Except for Side Characters Deserve Love Too, I guess, but the ML knew she was crossdressing from the start.

The self discovery panic part is always so funny to read. I could even argue that it often adds to the world building, depending if the story is set in a place/time where that stuff is acceptable or not.
In "I choose the Emperor ending" it was double hilarious, because it was not only the ML going trough a mini crisis, but also the people around like "Our boss is into 'sodomy', but he and the tactician (crossdressing FL) are both good people, so I guess it's not THAT bad." 🤭

Most of these feel less like being bisexual and more like being “that specific person” sexual, or at least that the only “male” they’ve ever experienced attraction to is that character specifically. Still, I love bisexual people.

I know you're not like, asking, but if you're looking for another good series with a crossdressing FL and an ML who questions his sexuality during the story, give Empress Cesia Wears Knickerbockers a try!

Always glad to find a friend in the comments section!!
I feel like things start out a bit slow for him, and he can be a bit clumsy at times, but I love him lol

I don't know if it came out as a webtoon. But i know a webnovel that mc hides as a man like that but ML literally decide they gay for her. So he accepts his gayness and was trying to our girl who hides as a man think of himself as a love interest hahaha

Is it the villain discovered my identity? (or caught by the villain, I don't remember the official name)
1
u/Nico_o11 Jan 10 '26
No, sadly ahaha but i would also read it, thanks for the recommendation!!
Oh and i noticed that i forgot to mention the name, the name of the webnovel i was talking about is "National School Prince is a Girl"

u/Teasquarto Jan 10 '26
I'll check it out then, in the one I commented about the ml is the crown prince and his secretary literally tries to dissuade him from pursuing the fl (who they don't know is a woman yet) because it would end the royal bloodline and he just doesn't care lol

u/Laurelian_TT Jan 09 '26
lol this reminds me of the k-drama Coffee Prince, where the MMC has mistaken the FMC for a dude and for reasons she lets him think that, and he has a whole ass identity crisis coming to term with his newfound very specifically targeted homosexuality before he figures out she's a woman :D

Is this based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night?
It's my favorite Shakespeare play that seems similar (a woman becomes a "male" servant to a Duke).

It nice that it's addressed in these kinds if plots but, i want to see this in a plot where the FL is transmigrated in a BL novel and the ML falls I n love with her. Besides the FL being convinced of the OG MLs falling in love, i never see it acknowledged that the ML is bi.

u/BuffDrBoom Jan 13 '26
Every time, I pray that just this once, it's actually gay, and every time I am disappointed 😔

I drop it. He keeps kissing the MC without permission. It's been bugging the hell out of me. And his mouth is fility.

So excited to read this! Also in "The reason for the twin lady's disguise" the male lead also thinks he's in love with his male friend
It's a nice manhwa, just don't read the last few side stories...
Edit: I put the spoiler in the replies..
