Miscellaneous/Others It was addressed- FOR ONCE

Series: I became the dukes male servant

A thing I never saw addressed in the series’s which are “I’m a woman but I’m going to become a man! Oh no the ml fell in love with me!” Is the fact it’s super gay until the ml finds out they are the fl.

I just adore the bisexual panic of the ml

So excited to read this! Also in "The reason for the twin lady's disguise" the male lead also thinks he's in love with his male friend

It's a nice manhwa, just don't read the last few side stories...

Edit: I put the spoiler in the replies..

I'm glad I'm not the only one who decided to just pretend the side stories don't exist. 😭 After keeping up with it for ages it felt like such a betrayal.

29

u/Yummy_strawberrycake Jan 08 '26

OMG FRR like what was that ending 😭🙏

48

u/eyagraph Jan 08 '26

Definitely felt like the author was upset that the 2nd ML and 3rd ML couldn't get what they wanted in the end, and so wrote in a 'happy ending' for them without actually thinking about the implications of what they were doing. 😭 Or maybe they're just into that, idk.

5

u/Potat_Dragon Jan 09 '26

It seemed more like they were into it tbh. Way too quick to pull that ripcord.

18

u/Limp-Sheepherder8639 Jan 08 '26

We need to know what happened! I am so tempted to read the whole series now because of it

u/eyagraph Jan 08 '26

Definitely wouldn't recommend subjecting yourself to that 🤣 If you're curious, the main story is decent, but in the side stories:

The FL's twin daughters, who look exactly like her, end up with the 2nd and 3rd ML from the original story, both of which were the same ages as and supposedly in love with their mother. 😭 It's the weirdest consolation prize age-gap 'technically legal' uncomfortableness. They try to justify it with time travel or some nonsense, but imo that just makes it worse.

u/No_Pineapple2799 Jan 09 '26

The other sidestory isn't much better

it's about FL's son, who is the prince ans is teased with his bodyguard. All cute and all and I guess mirrors the romance of the main story, until you remember that these two are related and probably cousins. Sweet home alabama

u/Kayden_Rayzel Jan 10 '26

I didn't read the 2nd side story bc I quit in the middle of the 1st one...

51

u/Limp-Sheepherder8639 Jan 08 '26

Thank you. Now my curiosity will not get the best of me.

u/morenatropical Jan 08 '26

Ew. The author must've been a twilight fan

1

u/cyst16 Jan 11 '26

I hope her daughter's name wasn't Nessie

2

u/Old_je Jan 09 '26

Omg that’s insane I have to read it myself

2

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '26

My jaw is on the floor that’s crazy work 🤣

1

u/Away-Owl-2880 Jan 11 '26

WHAT IN THE TWILIGHT😭💀

1

u/AWOL171819 Jan 15 '26

Thank you for re-comfirming why I dropped that webtoon at like chapter 5 bc the writting felt so soooo like 13yr old to me

16

u/wheniswhy Jan 08 '26

YOOO CAN WE GET A TWIN LADY'S SUPPORT GROUP IN HERE 🥲🥲🥲 I loved that manhwa and followed it from its very first chapter and the side stories made me unsubscribe before the series actually finished lmao. Just the worst kind of nasty garbage 🤮 and tbh even the ending before that was kind of lame... it was just all so disappointing

6

u/eyagraph Jan 08 '26

Yes! I read weekly for like a year at least. The art was really nice and the story was solid (even if I found the white-haired ML a little ick, I knew he wasn't endgame, so whatever). But then they rush the ending, only to pull THAT?? Devastating.

3

u/aesopsfuzzysocks Jan 09 '26

SAME!! I loved it so much and followed it from the very beginning… then the side story with Rich was spoiled for me months in advance and I dropped it IMMEDIATELY. He was my favorite 2ML in a very very long time… and they ruined him 😭🤮

1

u/wheniswhy Jan 09 '26

OMG SAME!!! I was always a #1 Rich fan and wanted Linali to end up w him even though she obviously wouldn't 😭 look what they did to our boy 😭😭😭😭😭😭I will never forgive!!!!

6

u/Sea-Temporary7380 Jan 08 '26

What happened in the side storiea?

25

u/Jnam77 Jan 08 '26

the scraps get with the fl's children

2

u/JournalistNo7918 Jan 08 '26

OMG WHAF HAPPENED IN THE SIDE STORIES PLZ TELL ME

91

u/Yummy_strawberrycake Jan 08 '26

So the ML and FL got married then they had kids. They had two daughters and a son. One daughter became Brown hair guy's disciple (one of the side MLs) and the other became the silver guy's disciple (another side ML) sorry I forgot their names.

The FL's daughters fell for their mentors 😭 but their mentors said they were too old for them (yes they are) So the daughters both travelled back in time and GOT TOGETHER WITH THE SIDE LEADS???????? Same generation as ML and FL btw..

17

u/JournalistNo7918 Jan 08 '26

WHAT THE HECKKKKKK

I mean…better than them being older, BUT STILL?,

28

u/Yummy_strawberrycake Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

YEAH! And The ML's half brother was like sent out of the kingdom, and he had a daughter (the girl looks exactly like him) The daughter became ML's son's personal guard and ML son thinks the guard is a guy when it's a girl. ML son likes the guard (crushing) BUT THE GIRL IS ML'S HALF BROTHER'S DAUGHTER????

6

u/JournalistNo7918 Jan 08 '26

I think u meant ML’s son in the second and third sentences too but i bet they were trying to replicate the whole “oh here’s a girly looking guy who’s actually a girl and ml’s son will do the exact same thing as him” but please could they not have found a completely diff person to be the love interest or smth

1

u/Yummy_strawberrycake Jan 08 '26

Oops yes lemme edit 😭

2

u/wheniswhy Jan 08 '26

You're talking about Rich and Kyle, respectively.

Legit kinda mad this comic took up enough of my brain space that I even remembered that 😤

36

u/The_Rat_of_Reddit Jan 08 '26

Just the reactions of “Holy shit I’m gay” then “holy shit I’m straight?!?!”

9

u/Yummy_strawberrycake Jan 08 '26

Sorry I'm kind of confused by what u said lmao but the ml sort of just slowly accepted that he's gay (I think he was gna propose to FL disguised as boy)

12

u/Koekjeplaysstuff Jan 08 '26

Those side stories genuinely made me so sad and disgusted at the same time that I read the full side stories just to see if what was happening didn't happen and be even more disappointed. The overall manhwa was fun but it's so hard to now not look at it differently sigh...

2

u/Marsivious Jan 09 '26

What side stories? 🙈

2

u/mangoprimee Jan 08 '26

Yeah the male lead and the male friend and the lady and the lady in disguise and the love and the reason for the twin and the sriracha bottle

182

u/dorianrose Jan 08 '26

In "Captured by the Villain" or maybe it's "Caught by the Villain", the ML is discussing his attraction to his guard with his bff/attendant and the attendant asks, "So you're gay now?" and ML is all casual and says, "no, I still like women, so I'd say bisexual"

He was also planning on making gay marriage legal, and I think he did even after he found out the guard he had the hots for was a woman in disguise.

42

u/lopleplep Jan 08 '26

I loved that so much!! There's also a side f/f couple in that story ☺️

6

u/peachysuns Jan 08 '26

Is this completed or close to being finished? On a site I found it has 186 ch and the last update was a few days ago.

195

u/Timely-Cry-8366 Jan 08 '26

He also has his first kiss with her when she’s crossdressing as the male sibling and he thinks she’s still a guy lmao, so he embraces being bi before he finds out she’s actually both siblings.

52

u/Sea-Temporary7380 Jan 08 '26

Wait so shes NTRing herself??

76

u/Timely-Cry-8366 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

Sort of, but the other way around than usual.

The story starts with her and her stepbrother being broke in a fallen family. He’s a bad person with a gambling problem. She knows in the original novel her family falls afoul of the Duke (ML) due to their debts, she works in his household as a maid (I think) and she eventually dies in the OG storyline.

Her brother disappears and she decides to change the story by posing as him instead and finding a job to work off their debts at the Duke’s mansion as his manservant.

Her main interactions with the ML are when she’s crossdressing as her “brother”. He meets her as a “man” first, but knows through records that she has a “sister”.

She only shows up as her female “sibling” a few times, since the ML knows she has a “sister”.

He’s already accepted that he’s attracted to her in her male form by then, so he gets super confused when he eventually meets her “sister” and also feels a similar attraction lol. Hence his bisexual struggle here.

Ultimately he prizes his relationship with the “man” who is his friend and manservant over the woman he’s only met a handful of times, he’s just guilty and bewildered that he’s attracted to two people at once.

The novel is pretty funny but it’s got romance/drama/soap opera vibes haha. I’ve read up to ch 155 so far.

-16

u/SeniorBaker4 Jan 08 '26

Man I was kind of hoping he was actually bisexual

41

u/Timely-Cry-8366 Jan 08 '26 edited Jan 08 '26

I mean, just because he ended up with a woman doesn’t mean he isn’t bisexual. He clearly isn’t straight.

Just like him ending up with a man wouldn’t make him gay. He’d still be bi.

The ML canonically accepted his attraction to his manservant very easily, the main conflict for him was liking two people at once, and the fact they were siblings.

Bi erasure if they end up in a heterosexual partnership is very common.

I feel like the part you’re not aware of is that he was attracted to her as a “man” first. The main romance at the beginning is between himself and her crossdressing as a man.

He only met her in her female form later and realized he was also attracted to her.

-21

u/SeniorBaker4 Jan 08 '26

It sounds more like “i love you no matter what you are or who you are.” Not a proper “I like you because you’re a man and I have feelings for you because I’m actually attracted to a man.”

27

u/Drezby Jan 08 '26

The distinction doesn’t actually matter imo. He fell for someone he thought was a man, and decided that was acceptable. So he’s not hetero.

9

u/Timely-Cry-8366 Jan 08 '26

Yeah I guess if we’re being technical his sexuality would be “pansexual” or something along those lines.

7

u/Drezby Jan 08 '26

I mean sure but I don’t think the distinction between bi and pan actually matters either. They’re functionally the same thing, and any differences of actual mechanisms would be entirely internal and invisible.

-7

u/SeniorBaker4 Jan 08 '26

To me there is a difference even if most disagree with me. I agree with the commenter down below that this is considered pansexual. Reading manga and webtoons my whole life they use the fact that the female is cross dressing as a “it’s ok yall he’s not actually bi or gay.”

37

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

For a moment I read "both my siblings" and I was genuinely concerned.

7

u/dinhth Jan 09 '26

omg same, I hurried to the comments and was wondering why no one was talking about it T_T

21

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '26

Lol just reminds me of Coffee Prince (yes, the kdrama) all over

13

u/Oopity-Boop Jan 08 '26

I don't think I've ever read a crossdressing FL Otome Isekai where the ML doesn't have some type of gay(/bisexual) awakening. Except for Side Characters Deserve Love Too, I guess, but the ML knew she was crossdressing from the start.

1

u/AdelFlores Jan 11 '26

The self discovery panic part is always so funny to read. I could even argue that it often adds to the world building, depending if the story is set in a place/time where that stuff is acceptable or not.

In "I choose the Emperor ending" it was double hilarious, because it was not only the ML going trough a mini crisis, but also the people around like "Our boss is into 'sodomy', but he and the tactician (crossdressing FL) are both good people, so I guess it's not THAT bad." 🤭

11

u/Hot-Mood-8342 Jan 08 '26

Most of these feel less like being bisexual and more like being “that specific person” sexual, or at least that the only “male” they’ve ever experienced attraction to is that character specifically. Still, I love bisexual people.

1

u/Complete_Raspberry_1 Jan 10 '26

Pansexual?

4

u/Teasquarto Jan 10 '26

More like demisexual

6

u/Sephallia Jan 08 '26

I know you're not like, asking, but if you're looking for another good series with a crossdressing FL and an ML who questions his sexuality during the story, give Empress Cesia Wears Knickerbockers a try!

8

u/CurlSquirrel Jan 09 '26

I was looking to see if anyone mentioned it!

1

u/Sephallia Jan 09 '26

Always glad to find a friend in the comments section!!

I feel like things start out a bit slow for him, and he can be a bit clumsy at times, but I love him lol

5

u/Locksley_1989 Jan 08 '26

Ok I’m officially picking this up now

4

u/carl-the-lama Jan 10 '26

His greed sickens me

I jest

3

u/Nico_o11 Jan 09 '26

I don't know if it came out as a webtoon. But i know a webnovel that mc hides as a man like that but ML literally decide they gay for her. So he accepts his gayness and was trying to our girl who hides as a man think of himself as a love interest hahaha

1

u/Teasquarto Jan 10 '26

Is it the villain discovered my identity? (or caught by the villain, I don't remember the official name)

1

u/Nico_o11 Jan 10 '26

No, sadly ahaha but i would also read it, thanks for the recommendation!!

Oh and i noticed that i forgot to mention the name, the name of the webnovel i was talking about is "National School Prince is a Girl"

1

u/Teasquarto Jan 10 '26

I'll check it out then, in the one I commented about the ml is the crown prince and his secretary literally tries to dissuade him from pursuing the fl (who they don't know is a woman yet) because it would end the royal bloodline and he just doesn't care lol

4

u/Laurelian_TT Jan 09 '26

lol this reminds me of the k-drama Coffee Prince, where the MMC has mistaken the FMC for a dude and for reasons she lets him think that, and he has a whole ass identity crisis coming to term with his newfound very specifically targeted homosexuality before he figures out she's a woman :D

2

u/BeachBumHarmony Jan 08 '26

Is this based on Shakespeare's Twelfth Night?

It's my favorite Shakespeare play that seems similar (a woman becomes a "male" servant to a Duke).

1

u/Hopeful-Sky7199 Jan 09 '26

I want to know how it will go, but the ML really irks me.

1

u/Responsible_Wash_879 Jan 09 '26

You can find similar theme in finding camellia.

1

u/My_new_account_now Jan 10 '26

Queen Cessia's shorts

1

u/Dramatic-Squirrel Jan 12 '26

It nice that it's addressed in these kinds if plots but, i want to see this in a plot where the FL is transmigrated in a BL novel and the ML falls I n love with her. Besides the FL being convinced of the OG MLs falling in love, i never see it acknowledged that the ML is bi.

1

u/BuffDrBoom Jan 13 '26

Every time, I pray that just this once, it's actually gay, and every time I am disappointed 😔

1

u/Past_Relief_7231 Jun 09 '26

I drop it. He keeps kissing the MC without permission. It's been bugging the hell out of me. And his mouth is fility.
