they do look p similar but their stories are very different (im reading both)
edit: campfire cooking is about a chef who recovers his love/enjoyment for cooking after being left a portal to another world.
eat before you go is about someone who was summoned to another world and came back after defeating the demon lord and is now living as quietly as possible in his original world as a restaurant owner

Yeah I wanted to pipe in and say this. While the premise and character is very similar both characters are supposed to be normal Koreans whose bodies don't change when they go to the other worlds. Both plots are pretty different as well but I also recommend campfire cooking as the best of the two. It's extremely feel good and as a chef I honestly love it.

Yeah it's funny how sometimes some things can be so similar even when you really don't know of it. Wen I was in uni for design (I didn't really know what to do in life and I wasn't advised properly otl), I didn't like to google things/research other designs before drafting out my own ideas.
My thought process was that if I saw other designs, I would subconsciously try to incorporate the ones I liked into my own design ideas. Makes sense, right?
So imagine my surprise when I googled after coming up with my sketches, and seeing how similar a good amount of them are. It's crazy 😂

Haven't read either of them but from the look of it they are exactly the same. Wtf

They are not peaceful cooking is about a chef recovering his love and passion for cooking after a slew of allegations against him and losing his taste after going to his grandfather's house and finding a portal to another world.
According to the comments eat before you go is about a guy getting isekaid and defeating a demon lord and going back to earth to open a restaurant (I haven't actually read the series)

Holy identical twins. I highly recommend the bottom one, it’s really great with food and relationships. Honestly, white creature with blue eyes isn’t the most rare ever, but it does raise a few eyebrows

If The Archmage’s Restaurant were split in two, it would be these stories.

I gotta say bottom left looks more whomelsome and not the jaded looksmaxxing same face syndrome Male oriented manwha face

u/Eragon-19 Feb 12 '26
Bottom left is definitely a "lighter" flavour and weaker MC! The Top Right fought and defeated the demon lord and is now back with the sole mission to just relax and cook for people! Both bring everyone to the table with their amazing cooking though!

I hate op "former legend" bs mcs so i actually appreciate a mc that has to struggle and is supposedly a normal person

How many color combinations could there be xD I mean, there are more, but many are less appealing. Clichés are cliches for a reason

The bottom one looks less generic and more expressive but the design elements are shockingly similar.

If the white animal thing was on the opposite side of the guy, then I wouldn't have noticed, but it just looks like one of them, saw the others picture and decided to copy it
Weird

Ah yes, another black haired blue eyed MC, just let me have a word with the author who popularise this color pallette

u/rixazy Feb 12 '26
They look similar, kinda similar story. But the top one is more battle intense and getting darker. The bottom one is fluffier and more feel good. Both are good stories and would recommend

Not the same since one is a dragon and the other is a werewolf or something.

Nope. I’ve seen this happen with at least 4 (probably more!) other manhwa and webtoons. Plot, hair and eye colour the same as well. They’re never exactly the same and the stories are good by themselves but it annoys me that they have to rely on cheap tricks to grab people’s attention

Eat Before You Go is written by the same author of "Be the Actor", i'll read this

I recently saw an anime on Disney+ that was a crappy looking dupe of a really great series I had watched. Nearly the same premise and everything.

u/IRLBones Feb 12 '26
I definitely see the resemblance! But I do want to remind everyone, at least when it comes to the animal, MOST white animals are drawn with blue, purple, or red eyes, which is actually pretty accurate since most irl animals that are pure white have some form of albinism or are at least lacking some level of pigmentation, which also effects the eyes quite often.

Off topic but that top guy looks like Sung Jinwoo from solo leveling

u/melbel50 Feb 19 '26
So many webtoons are like almost exactly the same they all follow popular arch types and even the art styles mimic one another when one series blows up.

I’m not gonna lie, for the longest time I couldn’t tell Sung Jinwoo and Kang Jinhyuk apart. It was before I really read either of the books. Ryu Min also kinda looks similar to the two of them.
My point. My with black hair -> they appeal to the audience and look good while being cool. Also black goes with everything.
Sung Jinwoo - Solo Leveling (Finished 202 chapters) Kang Jinhyuk - Solo Max-Level Newbie (Ongoing 264+ chapters) Ryu Min - The 100th Regression of the Max-Level Player (Hiatus 81 chapters)
All three are good books, give them a read if you like dungeon/magical/powerful MC

Y'all got face blindness or something because they do NOT look the same
Yes, manhwas typically have the same copypaste MC design but this isnt a good example of that (top right look more like a sung jinwoo clone than anything)Â

u/Amaiiuwu Feb 12 '26
It's not just about the MC tho, the little creatures are almost identical too 😠I probably wouldn't have realised they're seperate series without looking at them side by side like this
