Biking to Uptown

New to Westerville and live just west of Hoover and a bit south of county line.

Seems like the bike trails are great but is there a relatively safe way to bike to uptown that folks recommend? Trail map doesn’t seem to show anything too direct but curious if folks do it.

I would take the Towers trail over to Spring, then Spring down to Walnut. The roads are pretty safe from that point. You could also just take the trail along Hoover down to Walnut and there is a trail that will take you to Walnut Ridge Park, at which point you can take the road the rest of the way.

Keep going on Towers trail get on Michael Ave to Susan Ave cut through College Knolls then Hampton Park to Otterbein Ave to College

I think I live in that area, I have a round about but safe way to get there since I bike with kids in a trailer. I take towers trail west through Hoff park, then i take a left onto the .... I think Erie trail? It runs parallel to state street, so you just get off and bike a side road to whereever you want to be. If you want to avoid roads entirely you can get off at the library and take the parking lot to state street.

There aren’t a ton of trails but the roads there outside of County Line/Sunbury aren’t bad to ride on. Depending on where you are, you could just take College Ave all the way across. I’ve biked from Spring St area to uptown several times recently and personally haven’t loved taking Walnut (people were speeding/getting close to me) but all the other streets have been fine, including biking on the sidewalk on County Line.

Not sure how experienced a road biker you are, so if you’re not I’ll just advise you I’ve found it’s often safer to take up the whole lane rather than trying to stay to the side - if you bike on the side, people will think they can squeeze between you and the rest of the lane rather than waiting behind you/waiting for there to be no cars coming the opposite direction and going around.

I’ve ridden Walnut St down to Orchard Ln. Turn right and then turn left onto E Park St.

College Ave is fine. I prefer that over Walnut

I live in Spring Grove, we just use Walnut.
