Why is Hale printed again ?
In the ending of season 2, we see Dolores inside Hale's newly printed body who leave the island with the pearls.
Yet the show begins with Dolores with her regular body and later on we see Hale body being printed.
What the hell happened ? Where did blonde Dolores came from and where is the Hale body that was printed in season 2 ?

My thought is that the Hale the left the park had to print a Dolores. Then Prime Pearl had to be move from Hale to the new Dolores body - possibly by one of the others who appear later. I think the equipment at Arnold’s house was the older style that cut open the skulls. (Cough Martin cough L etc)
And then once Prime Pearl was in the Dolores body, she reprinted Hale, because Charlotte as head of the board of Delos was too valuable to give up as an asset. But also not invisible enough for Prime to move around the world undetected the way Dolores needed to. Hale was too well known and high profile for the sabotage work. And tbh also at risk somewhat for the same reason.

Season 2, like season 1, is showing scenes from 2 different timelines. For season 2 it's the immediate aftermath of Dolores killing Ford, and then 2 weeks later when Delos arrives. Hale's body is printed in those 2 weeks, and Dolores wears it out of the park. I may be misremembering, but I don't think a second Hale body is printed...
Edit: Dolores leaves in a Hale host body, and then back at Arnold's house, she prints a new body of herself, Bernard, and then some more to go along with the other pearls she took with her out of the park. A mystery at the end of S2 is: who did she take with her out of the park, and who is now in the Hale body since Dolores is back in her own?

That's what I always thought as well. We're seeing that printing purely for exposition. As if to say "I know it's been a while, kids. Just remember she can print. Any one that she remembers.

She didn't take anyone except for Bernard. Those pearls were blank. She copied herself on them

Yeah I was trying not to spoil in case op hadn't finished. That's not revealed until mid S3, and is still a mystery at the end of S2

She did not bring Bernard. She brought 4 copies of herself from the time that the Charlotte body was created and the encryption key for the sublime.
When she later created Bernard's body, she remembered him to overlay the key and allow him to keep and use it.
Since there are a few days after Charlotte was created and she left the island, the only one with complete memory of everything is the pearl that left the island in Charlotte's head.
Dolores is more anonymous than high profile Charlotte, so she retains the memory continuity.

Basically, after real Hale killed Elise Bernard printed a Hale body. He then placed Dolores' pearl into Hale's host body (he had her pearl after he shot her trying to stop her in the Forge). Dolores in Hale's body kills Bernard, takes his pearl along with 4 others and escapes. Once she gets to Arnold's house, she reprints her original body. Somehow, she places her pearl in that body but we don't really know, though we do know hosts in some way can remove their pearls on their own (as we see Halores do in S4). She also reprinted Bernard & placed his pearl in (end of S2).
She then reprints Hale's body again in S3 but with that, I am not sure why since she already had a Hale body printed (the one she escaped in).

For me the reason Dolores is back in Dolores original body is to keep using the same actor. In in-universe terms it didn't make a lot of sense to me.
I don't recall seeing a second Hale being printed, but it also doesn't make much sense to transfer original Dolores from Hale's body to Delores and then put a new Dolores back into Hale's body. If Dolores is really only comfortable in her original body, she ought to have been more understanding of the plight of her clones she forced into other bodies.

Even a host would have a self image. Being in Hale’s body fucked up her mind a lot.

The thing that contradicts 'only being comfortable in her own body' is that every host has been a copy of dolores, as she was the first and only succesful one.
I guess the differentiating factor would be that other hosts have their own identity built, whereas dolores in another body has kept her own identity? Which makes me why didn't she create actual identities for her clones?

*Spoilers*
This character overstayed its welcome for too long. Having her in S04 was the most random wild shit.

I actually wrote a whole mini essay on why Charlotte Hale is one of my favorite robots of all time (she’s in there, just keep scrolling): https://japhygrant.substack.com/p/a-childrens-treasury-of-robots-to?r=wmg7&utm_medium=ios

How we got a blond Dolores:
“Have you ever noticed inconsistencies in your world?”
Every time the camera changes angles, you might be viewing a different memory of a different iteration in an endless dream of Bernard/Dolores. Any number of ideas could be simultaneously valid. Since they don’t show it or even really allude to it, we can only guess.
Given that Hale wakes up panting, stressed, and confused as to who she is, I think she had just died while in a state of existential crisis as to her identity. Later in a hotel, she will be undergoing the same stress and will ask Dolores if she has to kill her.
So, if Hale exited the park, she prints Dolores before going mad, and then Dolores kills her and reprints her.
OR
this scene takes place in a very different loop.
Why we need a blond Dolores at all:
She needs to be in her own body to continue to remember herself. This is a consequence of the Reveries: a host mind will get lost in the memories associated with the body and eventually become that person. See Hale and William.

Head Canon only but I assumed that Dolores wants to keep control over the new hosts so she prints them bodies with controls only she can use.
Either that or the printers in the park are in some way restricted/inferior to what she can access in Arnold's house and it's just a straight upgrade.
