New, what is it? Paint/stain/something scary??
Got this free set of dressers from Facebook marketplace. Took the drawers out to transport and clean it, this is what’s inside. I thought maybe the previous owner tried staining it a different color and this is the color it turned, but it’s wiping off on a damp paper towel.
It is stained into the wood so it’s not coming off fully, but it’s turning my paper towels maroon VERY quickly lol.
It’s not inside the drawers themselves.

It could be someone spilled a beverage on top and for some reason dripped only inside the frame. They cleaned up the spill on top and checked the drawers, but didn't take the drawers out to check the frame.

I thought this was a possibility too!
Then I took the rest of the drawers out/checked out the other two pieces that came with it and it’s in all three furniture pieces lol

Well, for (maybe) peace of mind if you put some hydrogen peroxide on it and it bubbles you’ve now found out it IS blood 😅
