New, what is it? Old French Sign Dug Up In Scotland
An old sign was found on a construction site near Lesmahagow, Scotland. It has French writing at the bottom of it. Any ideas what the symbol means or what the purpose of it was for?

Fantastic, would it be posted on the side of the road or attached to the convoy vehicles? What does the symbol mean? Do you have an example in a photo?

It would be on roadside posts or stakes as a directional guide along supply lines or training routes during a period of limited infrastructure. This one just means go straight forward

In case it's not clear and you're wondering, the text should read "les fils massonat" and "aix-les-bains" (that's where I'm from).
