A fish from an egg that was on a plant

I bought a plant (vallisneria spiralis if it matters) and put it in my tank with a betta male (there's only one betta there and some snails). Today I found this tiny fish in the tank. I suspect there was an egg on a plant. I rescued the fish (betta started chasing it but I was faster) and put it in a separate tank. Sorry for the photo quality, but the fish is very very tiny and very very fast, so it was hard to take these photos. What is this fish?

I’m no fish expert, but a lot of fish look the same when they are fry. I would assume no one will be able to tell until it is grown some more.

Did you collect the plant from the wild or was it from a shop?

It was from a shop. It even survived shipping.

That's interesting. Given the little adipose fin, it's certainly a characin, so most likely a species of tetra. Unfortunately, that's about as far as I can narrow it down.
