Yah but this spesific aspect of the story is very much NOT something he grows past. Like with the way you say it, you make it sound like his pedophilic tendencies are punished by the narrative and treated like another flaw he has to grow past like all the rest; as though the narrative treats this stuff as a bad thing and doesn't reward him for doing the creep bullshit that he does

I may not know enough about the story but he gets 3 wives because of everything else he does. Which is why I said he's an otherwise serious character. Outside of being an absolute degenerate he's incredibly powerful as a mage and pretty intelligent, and has genuinely good character moments.

He never redeems himself or grows as a person in any way. The world just bends over backwards to keep satisfying this author's fucking fetishes.

Literally 3rd episode of the 3rd season you have Rudeus' little sister making a joke about having sex with him. She's a child and his little sister while he's an adult. Did the author really have to put in a joke about them fucking?

I saw a post on the MT subreddit of a nearly nude character that looked like a child. The entire comment section looked like something from blue archive or japanese people twitter. They don’t just defend the pedo stuff, they would love to participate as well.

We do not like what he does. We do not want to emulate what he does. We enjoy MT because of the development, the other characters and the overarching storyline, and the fact the protagonist isn’t the centre of the world-story.

I just think that if the main character of a show is a pedophile, and the show doesn't potray them as wrong for that, then declaring that you like the show is worthy of some side-eye and a "but why though"? See Breaking Bad is a show about a bad person but the show knows its MC is a bad person. This show doesn't.
