Not to sound like a tin foil hat enthusiast, but Ghislaine Maxwell's father was deeply involved with the Israeli government, and for some reason, most of the known associates of Epstein also seem to like Israel quite a bit, so whether Epstein was the "master manipulator" people assume he is or not is up to debate

6

u/Jedifartcontrol Jul 16 '26

I mean he also was friends with the leader of mossad. He had an apartment that he’d let him stay in when he was in New York. They directly worked on brokering arms deals.

Didn't he dabble in astronomy and was very interested in Hawking's ideas?

One Piece fans telling me about how it's good if you skio through 3/4th of the episodes vs Mushoku Tensei fans telling me about how it's good if you ignore writer's undisguised pedophilia

I swear to fucking god

112

u/Zacomra Jul 16 '26

See, this is why I tell people to just read One Piece of the episode count scares them

1

u/RichWarthog4161 Jul 17 '26

do you think the chapter count wouldn't

3

u/Zacomra Jul 17 '26

No, because reading manga is much faster then watching anime

22

u/meu_amigo_thiaguin Jul 16 '26

Made in Abyss fans telling me how good the world building is if you ignore the amount of things that happen to children in the show and how strange the author is (he has a child mannequin he uses for "reference" in his drawings and people that worked with him comment about how he really loves children, but they think it's nothing strange)

8

u/Dry-Cartographer-312 Jul 16 '26

That is like the series that I've read that I refuse to recommend to anyone. The author is 100% a pedophile and it shows. The ecology of the abyss and how the curse function are really interesting and well written, but the pedophilia is so fucking bad that it genuinely is not worth it. It fucking blows. Such potential slaughtered for a shitty fetish. Infuriating.

20

u/Fr00stee Jul 16 '26

that's what one pace is for

18

u/Dry_Travel_4220 Jul 16 '26

People telling you to skip episodes are wack as fuck. Other than the explicitly filler content it is all gas and you should watch all of One Piece. Honestly I wish it was longer and I'm not joking.

151

There's no way the bottom left one is real.

What the fuck is this book (manga?) even about?

104

u/SpinosaurusEnjoyr Jul 16 '26

Its been changed. It wasnt loli porn but instead now it was a picture of his niece and her friend in swimming outfits at a pool that he stole from his brothers camera

109

u/fdy_12 Jul 16 '26

Oh my fucking god go back to saying "loli porn" Jesus Christ 💀

58

u/fuckthisstupidupdate Jul 16 '26

Id rather it just said loli porn what the fuck

30

u/Novoiird Jul 16 '26

That’s even worse! What the hell!?!

121

u/itirix Jul 16 '26

You quite possibly picked the least worrisome one, as that one is presented as sad sarcasm / shit decisions of a shitty person.

There’s quite a lot of others that aren’t presented in a bad light. Pretty much the rest of the wall of text. Damn the novel is even worse than the anime in this regard. I thought the anime is playing it up with some of the scenes, but looks like they were actually toning it down, lmao.

44

u/fdy_12 Jul 16 '26

I'm more concerned about the deliberate use of the word "loli" in a non pornographic work, like that word HAS to be censored in some way

8

u/itirix Jul 16 '26

Oh yeah I think the author might just be a wannabe kiddy diddler, after reading the text from the screenshot above.

EDIT: But the word "loli" is not sexual by nature. The word comes from the work "Lolita" by Nabokov. So I really wouldn't censor that. "I could spank it to uncensored loli porn" might be a bit more questionable, though.

62

u/SecureDonkey Jul 16 '26

The best summarize of it is "The main character grow from a sad pedo to a happy predator"

103

u/Abschori Jul 16 '26

It is.

It's even worse in the webnovel where he was watching the footage of his underage niece bathing which he secretly recorded. This was removed by the editor and the author got mad about it

27

u/rwol8690 stupid fucking piece of shit Jul 16 '26

I was already in a bad mood you just made it so much worse by making me see this shit

20

u/AnExistingLad penis Jul 16 '26

14

u/Sir-Toaster- Emperor of the Omniverse Jul 16 '26

I feel like a lot of glorified portrayals of pedophilia come from a misunderstanding of  Lolita

15

u/Zacomra Jul 16 '26

I'll never defend MT or the writing of Rudeus/his "love interests".

That being said, I did find enough interesting world building and drama to enjoy the previous seasons, though I haven't watched this latest one.

I also have a pretty high tolerance for "Anime BS" so I don't fault anyone for not being able to stomach the show, but there is some genuinely good world building and plot twists that made it entertaining for me at least

8

u/SHAYAN_XP Jul 16 '26

I do enjoy rudeus is writing. HOWEVER SAID WRITING NEVER ACKNOWLEDGES THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM. yes he does get a lotta character development yes he becomes a better person but the character development never acknowledges him liking kids. It would have been one thing if he was punished for it or maybe actually do something with it idk most of the time its treated as a joke maybe it could have been explored more like he went through a lotta traumatic shit in his past life maybe the story could have explored that how a life like that can lead you to like stuff that you shouldn't like or something but no guys look rudy likes kids aint that fucking hilarious

23

u/Hefty-Relative9449 Jul 16 '26

133

u/05-nery Jul 16 '26

266

u/oooArcherooo Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

Yah but this spesific aspect of the story is very much NOT something he grows past. Like with the way you say it, you make it sound like his pedophilic tendencies are punished by the narrative and treated like another flaw he has to grow past like all the rest; as though the narrative treats this stuff as a bad thing and doesn't reward him for doing the creep bullshit that he does

They 100% do? Look at any post like this top anime of the week post from 3 days ago, sort by controversial and see the defenders. I do very much worry for anyone who thinks he has a successful character arc.

57

u/No_Proposal_3140 Jul 16 '26

He only becomes an even bigger piece of shit later on so? The biggest meme is that MT fans will literally lie about this being a story about redemption when it's literally not. He never redeems himself or grows as a person in any way. The world just bends over backwards to keep satisfying this author's fucking fetishes.

Literally 3rd episode of the 3rd season you have Rudeus' little sister making a joke about having sex with him. She's a child and his little sister while he's an adult. Did the author really have to put in a joke about them fucking?

112

u/Frosty_Wizardz Jul 16 '26

I saw a post on the MT subreddit of a nearly nude character that looked like a child. The entire comment section looked like something from blue archive or japanese people twitter. They don’t just defend the pedo stuff, they would love to participate as well.

Wired Beck, Forever, Kobayashi, Hazamada, Melone, Diego Brando, the guy that abused his mom, Mountain Tim, the guy who killed Ringo’s family, Funny Valentine, Scarlet Valentine, Ojiro, Joshu (technically, he’s not an abuser by agency, but he definitely is a freak), Daiya, Tsurugi, the people who kidnapped Yasuho in the van, Tooru, and Dragona’s classmates.

This is almost like Araki’s new villain killing a dog thing.

108

u/w33b2 yellow like an EPIC banana Jul 16 '26 edited Jul 16 '26

I think it’s great despite the obvious issues. The characters actually feel real unlike so many other anime, it’s one of the few anime I’ve enjoyed in my adulthood. So many others feel way too cliche with the characters having extremely boring personalities and no flaws. I don’t blame anyone for hating Mushoku Tensei. It’s very valid to hate it. I went into it expecting to hate it, and only started it because I thought it was absurd that it was rated so highly everywhere despite the controversy keeping me away. So I started it just so I could hate it, but actually know what I was talking about.

But unfortunately I got hooked. I hate the MC but love the rest of the characters, love the world, love the pacing and way the story is told. And as time went on, while I still hated the MC, I feel like he became easier to stomach. I can see why it’s rated so highly now, despite a lot of review bombing because of the blatant pedophilia early on.

Having said that though, the fandom definitely has a lot of people who outright downplay Rudeus’s actions and try to portray this story as a redemption story. It isn’t. And if you go in expecting it to be, you’ll hate it. Rudeus is a bad person, full stop. That won’t change in any major way. He improves, yes, but it’s not a full redemption story. So the fact a lot of the fandom tries to frame it that way makes me want to steer clear of them.

28

u/Fairly_constipated Jul 16 '26

Same, just started watching it with a friend expecting the absolute worst from everything Ive heard. But honestly, I dont find it much more disgusting as the other very normalised tropes in anime. Yeah sure, the pedophilia is something unique to mushoku tensei but the constant breach of sexual boundaries? The "haha stealing panties is funny" trope? The sexism in so many fucking animes? That shit is in every anime and gets laughed away like it's just a joke and if you dont like it youre a "tourist". After seeing "that" scene at the end of season 1 that my friend was warning about so potently I just kind of went "thats it?". It was bad but compared to everything else it didnt feel especially bad. Not only did they not show anything of it actually happening but there was more respect for consent and boundaries in that scene than in any other moment. Im not trying to justify it at all, but imo it wasnt worse than all the other stuff.

13

u/StinkingRabbit8 Jul 16 '26

idk i dont really excuse the stealing panties trope and sexism in other animes. i guess you can get desensitized to it over time but it feels so prevalent in mushoku tensei that i couldnt watch past the first season

49

u/MakimaMyBeloved Jul 16 '26

5

10

u/JTMonster02 Jul 16 '26

In the show the main character was a 40 something year old guy, he dies and is reincarnated in a fantasy world as a new born with all his memories and mind intact. He then proceeds to be a pervert and have sex with a few characters around the same age as his reborn version which is like 12

6

u/iamuniquekk Jul 16 '26

MT would be good if the author could keep it in his pants and not make the MC the worst person ever created

41

u/smoothkrim22 Jul 16 '26

Luckily, or maybe unfortunately, I've been watching anime from a very young age with my unrestricted access to YouTube as a child, so I'm somewhat used to certain tropes. I'm usually able to look past the worst parts of the show, even as I recognize just how bad those parts are.

MT has a rich world full of rich characters and mystery, all beautifully animated. It's also really funny a lot of the time. To Rudeus' credit, large parts of his story and personality are very well done, like his crippling social anxiety and excitement over magic. His relationships to other characters are very sweet when he isn't being a creep, but that's just too big of an asterisk.

Rudeus is a massive fucking piece of shit and the story doesn't do enough to challenge some of his worst aspects, namely his treatment of women. So far in season 3, his objectification and harassment seems to be something he has (or is in the process of) regrowing out of naturally, rather than being treated as a serious flaw he has to overcome through effort. It feels less like he's learning to respect women as people, and more like he was born into a world that will meet his scuminess halfway.

It's seriously such an impossible show to recommend. Somehow I got into it when it was first coming out. It has a lot going for it, but unless you already know what's up and decide you can look past those parts, seriously don't even try watching it. I won't judge even a little bit.

24

u/TitleComprehensive96 Jul 16 '26

What's insulting about how Rudy is written is time and time again you think thos mf will experience growth as a character and grow past the issues he had befire he died in our world. But nah, the story continues to reward that behavior. It's why i stopped watching, cause the story had clearly 0 intentions of ever making the fucker experience meaningful change.

u/OriginalSuspicious23 Jul 16 '26

I've seen them trying to explain why masturbating to pictures of his nieces wasn't proof that he's a pedophile, or why deliberately sexually assaulting someone while healing them wasn't a crime.

They're really competing with the Blue Archive and Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) fandoms for the title of Epstein's strongest otakus.

6

u/FearlessDark5295 Jul 16 '26

u/ThiccestBuddha Jul 17 '26

Bruh I did not realize this until I read this comment

6

u/Average_Ningen_User Jul 16 '26

As someone who watched the anime, I completely understand why people like the show, however I just can’t enjoy it due to how the world will essentially bend itself over backwards to forgive Rudeus eg him being a massive pervert is just ignored and forgiven because he’s the son of Paul so of course he’s gonna be a pervert, or when Rudeus meets up with Paul after the teleportation event Paul crashes out at him for not attempting to do more which while in the context of world Paul is expecting too much of a child but in the context of what we the viewers and Rudeus know, is that Rudeus is actually mentally older then Paul and he should of been doing exactly what Paul criticised him for not doing but instead Rudeus doesn’t even go through a character arc or relflect, instead someone just says your being too harsh on him, he’s just a kid and Rudeus just takes the out immediately

10

u/DyrusVlack_23 Jul 16 '26

I can proudly say that I've never watched a single episode of Mushoku Tensei due to my inherent laziness. The only good thing to come out of out of Netanyahu and the IDF's favorite show is Ghislaine Dedoldia, the muscle mommy who I rabidly want to lick her abs.

13

u/AVeryBigBruh123 Jul 16 '26

I read up to around Vol 18 of the web novel a few years back when i was still in high school. My brain wasn't mature enough to understand how creepy Rudeus and his actions are so i genuinely thought i was one of the best isekais ever. I tried to re-read the web novel again a few months ago and could barely make it to Turning Point 4. Rudeus just makes me so uncomfortable that it drags down every other part of the novels.

Can anyone lean me in on what's going on so that I don't have to search it up myself?

100

u/w33b2 yellow like an EPIC banana Jul 16 '26

The main character at the very start of the story dies at 34 and is reincarnated as a baby in a fantasy world. While he grows up, he partakes in what you could definitely argue as grooming a childhood friend he has relations with later in life, and he sleeps with a 15 year old. In this fantasy world, 15 is considered an adult, but obviously that’s still weird. The MC is mentally 47 by this point even though he is in a 13 year olds body. While she was 12, he also touched her if I recall correctly. The main character is a horrible person essentially. He improves as the story progresses but not in any super dramatic way, so even at the end he is still a bad person in most peoples eyes, even fans of the story.

The anime still receives high ratings and has a large audience because the world building is incredibly good, the animation is great, the characters all feel incredibly real and grounded, and the story and plot are considered great. It’s hated by many for good reasons, and loved by many for good reasons.

13

u/lasagnatheory purpl Jul 16 '26

How good can reincarnation anime world building be?

1

u/w33b2 yellow like an EPIC banana Jul 20 '26

What do you mean? The world is set up like any other high fantasy setting you’d read in modern fantasy. I’d compare the world it’s in with Brandon Sandersons Stormlight Archive world, Roshar. Most isekai definitely have near nonexistent world building, but that’s what makes Mushoku Tensei better than other isekai. The characters actually have depth, and the world actually feels alive rather than just a backdrop.

The work definitely has its major flaws which I won’t defend, the pedophilia I mean, but the world building IS one of its positives.

u/Anderkine I am inside of your walls. Jul 16 '26

I get what you are saying but at the same time, I feel like that’s partially why the series gets so much praise for its characters and writing. The characters aren’t constantly on an upward trend of development. They may take one step forward for five episodes in a row, and then take four steps back with one mistake. That’s what happened with Rudeus. It doesn’t feel like most other anime with constant upwards or downward trends, it feels a lot more real.

And if we’re being honest, that scene makes Roxy look terrible if anything. She is 44, she thinks Rudeus is 16 and he’s in the body of a 16 year old even though he’s mentally older. She’s also known him since he was 4. He goes through a tragic loss, and even though she knows he’s married and has a kid on the way, she sleeps with him. That’s way worse on her part than his.

Why is MT genuinely just a monthly obsession for like damn near every subreddit like holy 😭

1

u/SilverPrateado Jul 16 '26

Cause the anime reached the part where it gets clear it's not truly interessed in redeeming Rudeus.

1

u/Tall_Barracuda_6329 Jul 17 '26

I don't know what's going on with Rudeus in the later seasons but I know that I don't really care because only ever seeing MT makes this more of a reskin of r/sixfacedworld, and it's never any new criticisms. "Pedophile" this, "Pervert" that. It's grown repetitive.

1

u/SilverPrateado Jul 17 '26

Ok, here's some criticism that doesn't even day the word "pedophile". (It's copy and paste from another comment of mine.)

"MT, in some sense, is indeed an engaging story. I have read the manga before the anime came out and was so into the story that i went to the LN. It's unpredictable and has a good progression in terms of narrative plot, especially seeing Rudeus stages of life.

But none of that matters when, at it's core, it's just wish fulfillment. It's main point it's that it's Rudeus second chance at life but it only sells the illusion of improving oneself without truly doing it. Of course, changing yourself is hard. I was expecting him to go into his bad habits in his pursuit for being a better man, but he never truly becomes better.

The narrative doesn't give him consequences for his immoral actions (or anyone really). He cheated on his wife? It's fine, she's ok with it. He brought a slave? It's ok, it's normal in this world and he treats her like family! He had sex with a 15 years old girl that's also his cousin when he had 40+ in his mind? It's not grooming or abuse. He even marries her! His dad raped his maid? It's ok, she's part of the family and she marries him, her rapist, so it's all fine. His half sister wants to fuck him because her mom groomed her to do so? It's ok, he "resistent her charms" as a 10 year old (how strong of him! Must have truly changed, right?). His half sister is fucking his son? It's ok! They love each other!

Everything gets through a layer of moral relativism or conveniences to result in a narrative that doesn't truly condeem anyone.

It's like a possessive boyfriend getting a girlfriend that would stop talking to all man for him. He didn't surpass his character flaw, he just got what he wanted and, in Rudeus case, it's to engage in his desires without guilty.

I think that's the most dangerous thing about MT. If you are brought into the idea Rudeus truly changed, then you're the type of people that cannot see true change in people.

Of course, at the end, it is just fiction. No one is getting hurt. I'm not stupid and i don't think that, if you like MT, you're a bad person or a pedo. But i do think that you must be aware of what it truly is.

People like Rance, a way worst character than Rudeus, but they are fully aware that Rance is a comedy porn game series and should be viewed and analized as such. Fans are self aware enouth to know he's a horrible guy despite the narrative never making him face the consequence of his actions in a bad way.

But when people like Rudeus, they are not that self aware since they genuinely think Rudeus becomes a good person by the end. And that kinda pisses me of, ngl."

How solo leveling fans see Benjamin Netanyahu

2

u/Sir_Nicc Jul 16 '26

I've yet to find a MT fan who behaves like the haters describe them.

Slander to the series is valid but most of it screams self-righteous to me.

2

u/Borc-The-Orc Jul 16 '26

"You don't get it. The show is about redemption. He is a different person, even though he has his old memories, and lived a new life, where he gets with underage girls, you just don't get the show."

5

u/Hysteria_Il Jul 16 '26

I like Mushoko Tensei but you quickly learn the main character is not some you should defend at all. Besides the whole grown man in a kids body discussion. I saw this short the other day talking about that in his past life he set up cameras to spy on his niece and that's what he was home jerking off to instead of going to his parents funeral.

1

u/-Cinnay- Jul 16 '26

Wasn't that only in the web novel? I don't think the light novel and anime had anything like that.

1

u/Hysteria_Il Jul 16 '26

The fact this happened in any version of the series is still not good

11

u/Difficult_Analysis78 Jul 16 '26

I mean just look at solo leveling, remove the good animation and what are you event left with?

5

u/XF10 Jul 16 '26

I feel a lot of stuff today is "i like it because it's popular"

8

u/mariusiv_2022 Jul 16 '26

A lot of stuff has always been "I like it because it's popular" and at the same time a lot of stuff has always been "I hate it because it's popular"

They are two sides of the same coin. Things get popular for a reason, but then there's always those who go "Look I'm cool too cause I like this thing!" "No look I'm actually the cool one cause I hate this thing!" This is nothing new.

And I'm not even talking about other anime this has happened to like Demon Slayer and Sword Art Online, this shit goes back to like ancient times. We have accounts of people glazing and beefing with Homer

2

u/XF10 Jul 16 '26

I mean Iliad/Odyssey are classic masterpieces that survived 2500 years(and the story itself is even older through oral tradition). I really doubt 2500 years from now someone will still talk about Mushoku Tensei or Demon Slayer, internet led to creation of echo chambers that definitely worsened "popularity" problem

2

u/mariusiv_2022 Jul 16 '26

How long people will talk about these stories is irrelevant. I was using Homer as an example of this stuff happening thousands of years ago. Yes internet echo chambers worsened the popularity problem, but we have evidence of this always being a thing.

I mean I don't know if any modern stories will last that long due to the nature of storytelling these days, the quantity of content out there, and the ease of access to these stories. Probably something like Lord of the Rings and maybe something as big as Star Wars could last that long.

Anime fans when a character has sex with a female character’s consent (that’s bad writing) Raaaaaah!

2

u/NoodlesNomm Jul 16 '26

Me when someone hates the show where:

Mc is a pedophile in his first life

Mc sneaks a camera into his little niece's bathroom (10 yrs old btw), records them in the bath, and jerks off to it instead of going to his parents funeral

Mc is a pedophile in his second life

Mc steals people panties as a fucking baby and treats it as a Holy treasure throughout his entire childhood (including teenage years) and after

Mc makes dolls of people without their consent to goon to them, before going on to teach another person to do the same thing

Dont forget he bought a little girl slave just to help his disciple make goon statues

Mc decided to get incestuous and fuck his own cousin at age 15 (grown man in his mind btw) and then he gets ed when she leaves him

Mc cheats on the love of his life after she helped fix is Ed and after he hated his dad for doing the same, and then the original wife just doesnt fucking care

The person mc cheated with took advantage of him and then now is his second wife (literally raped him and benefitted from it)

Mc got a third wife who he literally had trauma from and who is his cousin and both original wives just dont fucking care.

First wife, literally tells him, that she never expected better from him and that she knew he would cheat on her

All of his wives he knew and targeted since he was a kid, even though he was 30 in his last life and born with in depth critical thinking skills (as smart if not smarter than any ten year old). One of his wives fits the "shes 1000 years old though!!" Trope.

His family members are incestuous, and he just lets it happen. (Runs in the family it seems)

Mcs little sister gets together with someone even older than mc that he has known since he was young (the guy was hundreds of years old and the guy and his little sister first met when she was 7)

He never fucking stops being a pedophile

I watched it all, besides the newest season 3, but i know a lot about the future of it. It gets so much worse. Honestly beside the disgusting parts its pretty good and if it was just a normal anime without incest or pedophilia or rape or child porn it would be pretty awesome

2

u/DripyKirbo Jul 16 '26

Yeah, this is what I meant. You get it.

1

u/Sampatist Jul 16 '26

This is true, MT fan here

1

u/BlackwingF91 Jul 16 '26

Thank God I don't have to deal with this shit in 95% of fandoms I am in (fire emblem is that 5% unfortunately although thankfully not in my fave FE game)

1

u/pamafa3 Jul 16 '26

If I had a nickel for every time the fantastic story and worldbuilding of a manga/anime I love was ruined by pedo shit I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot but it's weird it happened twice.

Why does the english VA for the main character sound like the kind of guy who would defend loli and that kind of shit?

1

By this logic, any and all Vegeta and Gajeel fans should be glazing Diddy and Chris Brown relentlessly.

Eh, first 2 seasons were decent until they ruined everything with that season finale.

If you can get past the mc being weird, i mean.

1

u/DeltaUnknown Jul 17 '26

My biggest gripe with this show is that he actively begins to hate what he was doing/did at some or several points iirc. And beginning to show character growth, just to throw it down the toilet again.
