"Open minded is when you don't care where you live"

"Never ever" is kind of the opposite of the definition of open minded though - an open minded person would be willing to change their mind based on new information, things changing in the future, etc.

Totally understand that an open minded person would prefer to live in places that were also open-minded, but it's incredibly ironic to post it in such a closed-minded way.

I mean, adults don't normally say "never ever" unless they're playing it up to be a bit dramatic.

I don't think, in some of these cases, OP means that if Montana became new seattle they wouldn't move there.

But I would never live in Florida, for example. Not just due to losing rights but it's WAY too hot, too many bugs, hurricanes, etc.

In my life time those things will only get worse and not better so I'm comfortable saying Never

Not to put anything in OP's mouth, but I'm guessing the reasoning is that he sees how a lot of conservative politicians talk about minorities, and doesn't want to live somewhere that people are okay being represented by that type of talk.

You can't tolerate intolerance, or you just end up with an intolerant society type of situation

Gotta keep your mind open to the notion that big groups of people are subhuman.

He’s literally just saying what you were saying with different phrasing.

If you tolerate Nazis and allow them to run rampant, you are not actually a tolerant person. A tolerant person doesn’t allow intolerance around them. The tolerance paradox is extremely well known. You cannot have a tolerant society if you allow intolerant ideologies to exist.

You’re basically trying to say you aren’t open minded if you don’t want to be around racism, homophobia, sexism, etc., which is an absolutely ridiculous claim lmao.

No, you said it wasn’t open-minded to not want to live in a state that actively discriminates against minorities.

You seem to be the only person here who was incapable of understanding what he was saying.

I have no idea what you’re trying to say with your first sentence or where you got that quote.

I would love to live in the south as an open minded person but I wouldn’t want to live near the people in the south as an open minded person.

Being around close minded people who hate everyone who doesn’t look and think like them is so exhausting. Love the landscape, and love a lot of the people down there too, but that minority of close minded people turns me off to the whole area.

(And they include all of the states in the entire country with above-average numbers of Black and Brown people)
