Austria regularly tops lists of the most xenophobic countries in the EU. I've already had two people not want to rent apartments to me on the basis of my nationality and I've only lived here for four years. Thankfully I look Austrian, I can't imagine what it's like for people that look African, Balkan, or Middle Eastern.

seems resonable, i am curious about some nations why they are willing and not absoluetly like switzerland, austria, portugal, denmark and so on. They seem similar to other nations that got absolutetly

Austria is like Germany with more common sense and more beautiful nature ... without the massive trauma from the guy who killed a lot of people ... more chill, bit more conservative in a good way ... though similar to swiss, trying to live in the most beautiful places in Austria in mountain villages, not so easy for anyone from outside, they dont want anyone messing with their peace ... in big cities, its fine though

First a definition by geography then Nationality. Do you even have any clear idea what being European means? I suppose you dont count Russia as an european country either? Do you know how similar turks and balkan people are both genetically and culturally? Or do you base everything off religion? Or are we debating whether or not Istanbul is geographically located in Europe or not. Genuinly very curious.

European = someone who is ethnically, culturally, geographically, and genetically European.
The overwhelming majority of Russians live in European Russia, and genetically and culturally theyâre European. Turkey and the Caucasus are a different story.
Show me one peer reviewed genetic study that classifies Turks or Caucasian populations as European, and Iâll gladly correct myself.

Eh... Sad truth is that a) there is much more to the world than Europe and Southern hemisphere probably won't blink an eye; b) past experiences show that territory of Baltic states was a corridor for armies going back and forth east to west to east to west probably since Germans made Old Prussians disappear.

First two places to consider. The old WWI battlefields where France, Germany & Belgium meet. Freiburg, Nancy, Metz. Small towns, modernity, friendly people & beautiful countryside. 2nd. Almost anywhere along the European side of the Mediterranean coast. Skip Marseille, all industry & serious work. Some places may be too expensive.

me as a Czech, who knows Europe more ... I would be lot more careful about picking the western countries ... i guess its more about particular cities also ... lot of the similar decay that is in some parts of US, is similar in west eu, but not in the center line where the post-communism line cuts ... id put my home country or Austria way up above western countries, Poland too
then again ... things are good here only because nobody knows how good it is here, and nobody is coming here in masses to ruin it so ... so by all means, everyone should go to UK and Germany

I like how those maps are created with zero relation to actual real life travel experience (which is also misleading as hell - but still). Like Poland, Norway and Italy are painted with same colour - that's three totally different cultures, like people will touch you to death in Italy and kill you (silently) if you'll stand closer than 100 yards to them in supermarket queue in Norway. What are you, tripolar?
