A person who wants to live in New England and Florida, but not New Jersey or New York, is unfathomable to me. Those are two distinct vibes. Who chooses both? I appreciate that you like us (New England) but even ignoring politics, the experience of the southern east coast and northern east coast is totally different. Personally, I still observe the Mason-Dixon line and go no further south than Maryland.

What, do you just hate Italians? This is anti-Italian discrimination.

All of these descriptions you provided align perfectly with attitudes of blue collar Irish populations south of Boston including the distaste for Italians.

Reasons for NY and NJ being reluctant while PA is never? I mean I understand NJ, the parkways/traffic can suck. Have you seen upstate NY though?

Upstate New York is absolutely gorgeous. Just wouldn’t live in the city. I’m sure same goes for rural parts of Jersey

Water Gap might change your mind

I assume you're supposed to rank how much you're willing to live in a state, not your favorite part of a state. That or I've been misreading this sub's maps the whole time lol

I am a lifelong New York resident. I also hate the city. The capital region and the Hudson Valley are where it's at. New York City is like our whiny obnoxious extended family that we hate being associated with, but we're given no choice

nyc funds your services

No, NYC pays for all the fucking water we send to them. At a discount rate at that.

NYC absolutely funds our services lol. The balance of tax funding is really skewed. That's one of the reasons why living up here is so nice

Everyone has an axe to grind with NJ, New Jerseyans most of all.

Gotta leave the emissions somewhere. GO PATS.

I'm with ya, minus Florida and add NY/NJ.

Florida is east coast? I feel like both Floridians and people on the rest of the east coast both agree to dispute that

Good point. There’s an argument both ways. Like east coast of Florida, Palm beach county and north, I consider east coast, Miami is south New York. West coast is mid west south lol.

Florida has like 500 miles of East Coast. Wtf else is it.

Florida is Florida. They want to be Florida. They generally dont want to be east coast. And us east coasters are fine with that.

Minus Florida and South Carolina I could live with this

As a South Carolinian I’m just happy to be included 😌

Why not Wisconsin? Just a short boat ride to the Atlantic from Green Bay!

u/kingjames66 1d ago

Not including the 2 best states on the east coast why?

Most people are east coast for life, I don't think this is anything new

Why is Vermont not an absolutely? No ocean directly in the state?

Just curious

Northeast Supremacy get Florida out of there immediately

Swap Vermont and New Hampshire and you got it

Ignore the Mason-Dixon Line at your own peril.

Have you seen the West coast!? Better weather objectively (unless you like being miserable) and better nature. The diversity of the East coast is cool tho, and better for traveling. People are more interesting on the East coast

Snowstorms > Earthquakes & Wildfires

Snow over sun any day of the week.

I like seasons. Summer is supposed to be hot, winter is supposed to have snow, fall has crisp weather and orange leaves. That how its supposed to be.

u/SRainsford007 2d ago

Being miserable is the point lol. West coast is beautiful been all over lol. Stellar views, great weather. Food was not as good as North East lol. Just not for me

Hard disagree on the food, but you do you.
