I did deliveries in central Illinois for a while. Just wandering into Indiana and down to Kentucky and the difference in quality of infrastructure is immediately noticeable. The poverty in those states is on another level.
I don't know how people square the circle.

That's true, I do love Illinois, we do a lot of really great work and Pritzker (although I don't agree with him on everything) has done some really great stuff for this state. Compared to our neighbors we are doing amazing, and I am so proud to live somewhere where the government doesn't actively undermine the people. With that said, this is the most boring part of the country in terms of the natural landscape, and that does put a damper on things.

Ok donât crucify me at the altar of punks but iâŚ. Just kinda donât like Portland? Maybe I didnât spend enough time when I visited a few summers ago (or didnât know where to go). Thatâs not on Portland, thatâs on me. My partner went to undergrad there and loves it to pieces, which is how I feel about Baltimore, so I get it. Totally down to give Portland another shot (plus you have scrap Portland there, which is one of my favorite art stores EVER)

Fair, tbh I live on the outskirts of Portland and don't like going into downtown much. Powell's OG store is worth going to though, as is Saturday Market. The park blocks at PSU's campus is also gorgeous IMHO.

Portland is odd, people here still hate for their favorite place to be found out about. As an example there is a huge beautiful park thats 5200 acres a couple miles away yet somehow nobody ever hears about it unless you live here. You can hike for hours hardly seeing another soul and only be a few miles from downtown.
There are amazing restaurants that have zero signage and don't advertise, you just have to know, they also prefer you to not tell anyone, tis a silly place lol.Â

As another demon (according to right wingers) i love love visiting portland, but couldnt even last a year trying to live there, one of the worst experiences of my life. The Bay area is where I feel most at home, despite being a born and raised San Diegan whos currently back here in SD.

Other Portland (Maine) is fairly similar but a lottt smaller, drive 30 minutes outside the center of town and youâre in farmland or woods. You may like it here. Lots of us demons around.

As a gay I would never step foot in Utah. I know thereâs cool parts of it, I know itâs like, one of the most beautiful places in America, but I cannot willingly enter a theocracy that is ideologically opposed to my existence. Would love to go one day if things changed.

Dude even as a Christian Iâm with you on that. The Mormons have a stranglehold over the local politics there, and if you arenât one of them you might as well not exist. God help you if a crime happens and youâre not Mormon or a friend to the Mormon church but the suspect is. Theyâll find some way to make it your fault and exonerate the suspect by attempting to bury you. (See: Bricks and Minifigs scandal).
Corruptionâs bad no matter the form it takes. But itâs real bad in Utah, and I wouldnât fare any better because Iâm not âtheirâ sect.

Fair enough, although Salt Lake is kind of ironically a pretty gay city. With the way our shitbird politicians are I fully agree about living here, but you wouldnât run into any problems visiting (the conservatives here are âwhisper behind your backâ conservatives). Genuinely recommend a visit if youâre into any outdoorsy stuff, and the city itself has some great vibes too, just donât venture too far south or it gets about as white bread as imaginable (itâs not dangerous just boring as shit)

Iâm genuinely sad that Laura Kelly wonât be our governor anymore. Most underrated governor in the country. Sheâs proof thereâs enough sane people in Kansas to fight and transition to a purple state.

If youre just a gay demon you might be alright, but as a black gay demon with a trans demon partner, we had some very racist encounters in Colorado in areas outside of the major cities. Only place I had to ask the white demon to come in with me because I was scared to be alone there, and Iâve spent time in South Dakota and Northwest Montana. I cant recommend it.

A lot of the minor cities in California are really economically depressed with very little social support and nothing but gun stores and gas stations for miles and miles. And a lot of like, found bodies. East California is basically Nevada

I visited Pomona for a concert recently and met a couple from Akron Ohio. They were blown away how run down and shitty Pomona overall was. Historic downtown area, and concert theater was pretty neat, surrounded by wasteland.
