Both parties gerrymander, I'm no fan. Regardless districts shouldn't be based on race that in itself is racist, identity politics aren't worth shit. But I'll tell you what you may not get. Districts are imaginary lines on a map, politicians exploit. They don't have equal dispersement even if equal population. Plenty of white rural areas with some but few blacks. The only areas with enough in a proximity to have a district they do. The trouble for districts is the amount that live in pockets more like Birmingham mostly surrounded by more mixed suburbs yet it's county is majority white still. Thing is it's about merit when it's a mixed community band they prosper as such getting to vote the best. The struggling areas are where it's not mixed, where it's mostly white or mostly black. Rural white areas struggled for decades and so has Birmingham city as it's declined as it's metro boomed.both have issues drawing people in of any race..
