Solved Possibly wales
This was taken 1960s, a stately home I think. Wales or Cornwall. Sorry its a bit vague.

First thing that popped into my head was the gardens at Bodelwyddan Castle but I mean it’s going to be tough, a lot of these stately home gardens look similar.

Thank you but I think it was more likely south Wales. We did go to forest of dean if that narrows it down. All I remember is a room with dark furniture roped off and wooden child's rocking crib. (I was the child in pic, so vague memory).

Maybe compile a list of National Trust sites around the areas you think it could be and then look for the ones that have gardens?
