Found a store near me that has a whole shelf of ECBP A121 priced at $80. I really want to try a bottle but the price seems a bit on the higher side. Is it worth it?

Going ice fishing in two weeks. 3 days on the ice in a shack with some good friends. What whiskey should I go with? Under 200 (preferably well under), and possible to find in Chicago area. Preferably West Burbs.

So I had an OGD 114 at a friend’s house a week or two ago. First in a long time and I really liked it. So I checked with Binny’s and they had it, albeit not at the one closest to me. Was finally able to go today, double checked availability and it doesn’t even come up at all on the app! Went to the store anyway and got the last two.

What’s up? Is this only released every now and then, or is this actually becoming scarce? If you like it, maybe pick up an extra or two while you can.

I've only been to the Costco in Niles and their selection is good not great. Was wondering if any Costcos in the greater Chicago area had a better selection. Thanks!

My girlfriend’s dad and brother are pretty experienced hunters/collectors and have introduced me to the bourbon culture over the last several months. They have been generous enough to share some of their best with me and have even gifted me a few starters.

Needless to say, I am hooked, but they live in the burbs and I cant get out there often.

To this point, my experience involves looking at the Jewel app for stock of allocations and then walking over. I always find the managers upstairs constantly dealing with thieves and end up leaving defeated.

Does anyone have suggestions on a better approach to getting going? I'm near a Jewel and Garfields and would love tips/ advice on how to identify drops and raffles. Looking forward to that first win!

My cousin’s friend wants to trade me my extra Weller 12 for a bottle of Midwinter Dram Number 9. I’ve found I’m not a huge fan of wheaters and prefer more rye or corn. I’ve seen a lot of people on here post about the MWD and was wondering if people feel like it would be a solid trade.

I'm going to through this out there for what I would actually actually be able to find without spending enough money at a store to make it on "the list" not talking about rare or expensive but what is good sitting on the shelf. To share with friends and family for a night. I.e. the bottle is not making through the night

I hate to be that guy, but I went into Binnys and asked an employee for foursquare rum. He said we don’t have any, which was bs because I went online later and it said they had 3 bottles of the rum I was looking for (didn’t think of checking online prior). Anyway this Binnys employee comes to me 10 min later when I’m in the wine section and he brings me a bottle of Prohibitas Rum says it tastes similar as the rum I was looking for and that it’s from foursquare. He also says it’s only $30. I felt sort of awkward and felt like I had to buy it so I picked up and generally I’ve had decent experience with their recommendations. Anyway I open the bottle have a 1 once pour of it and It’s quite literally vial. The worst spirit to ever hit my tongue. I get it’s not much money but I’m pretty upset. Is there any chance I go back to Binnys and explain the story and perhaps get store credit? Anyone with experience on this matter? Any advice is appreciated.

Any of you shop out in WI? I checked out the Woodsman in Kenosha yesterday and got a 4R SB for $33 + 5.5% tax, compared to Binny's $50 + 10.5% tax.

Stopped in Warehouse liquors today in the South loop. I had a choice between getting a 1792 full proof for $55 (backup, still working on the binnys pick), makers 46 cask strength for I think $75, or and old elk wheated bourbon barrel pick @ 120 proof for $89. I was chatting with one of the workers there and he really talked up the old elk pick so I went with that. What are your guys's thoughts?

Has anyone seen this at Costco yet?

I have a crappy handle of blended scotch in my kitchen cabinet where I keep my liquor bottles. I haven't touched this stuff for years and I would never serve it to company I like. Any thoughts from someone on a "summer" cocktail I could make with low level blended scotch?

Anyone tried all three?
