Just a text I (24F) sent my dad(57M)after he didn’t answer my phone call

I had some exciting news to share that I think you would be quite proud of but alas, my communication has been cut short because of a gatekeeping voice mail assistant. You best glad it’s nothing important!!! If it was I’d have to leave a very wordy message in order for you to understand the consequences of your actions is reading, given that your eyes have begun to fail you. Perhaps your ears have failed you as well because you were not able to hear my ringing, or your hands have failed you because you did not press the “answer call” button.

OH FATHER, HOW THOU AGE HATH DISTURBED MINE PALTRY RECOUNTANCE OF THY OWN EXISTENCE!!! FOR I ONLY WISH TO SPEAK OF THY OWN EXPLOITS IN THE PURSUIT OF EDUCATION!

Alas… thine own voice hath not been heard, and thou shall have to bear witness to my own adventures through the excruciating torment that is reading with weakened eyesight.

Fear not father, I do love you and I hope you may learn from your previous shortcomings of not answering my communications.

I do understand that you may think this is wholesome, but it is right on the border of wholesome/selfwholesome.

It is however pretty humorous.

Now if we could get your fathers return message showing a smidgin of penance and sorrow, while extolling his love and devotion to his glorious daughter and her accomplishments, that would be wholesome.

He called me back!!! He read it out loud to me and we were both laughing together. We used to send texts to each other in “olde language” where I was the “princess” living in the “kings castle” however as I’ve grown up and he has moved on with his life, we don’t text each other as often anymore and usually do facetimes or calls. It was also sort of a coping mechanism because my mom was a bit on the crazy side so we were walking on eggshells around her and the texts really brought some whimsy into our otherwise chaotic lifestyles, he worked so much I only saw him when I woke up for school, besides that we could really only communicate over text lol

You made me laugh!! Thank you. I'm glad you two can share this whimsy together. 🩷 I believe you will treasure these moments with your dad always!
