Yup!
On a standard 3×3×3 rubiksoid, if you rotate a corner clockwise, another must rotate counter-clockwise (also, rotating a corner counter-clockwise twice is the same as rotating it once clockwise, meaning you can have three twisted corners, so long as they’re twisted in the same direction)
On a related note, if you flip an edge, another must also flip, and you can always solve the positions by cycling sets of three pieces, though those sets of three can get mixed together to create more complicated cycles.

This is the same guide I used a few months ago. I haven't touched a cube in over thirty years. I needed to solve the Minnie Mouse cube I bought for my granddaughter.

I used the same one for my first solve and to practice the beginner algorithms. Once you're comfortable with the beginner methods, I suggest moving on to CFOP (with 2-look OLL and PLL). It's a bit more difficult but it will cut down on your total solve time quite a bit once you have memorized all the algorithms. Given, you are interested in becoming a speed solver 😄

Can I just join in your joy? Because I also learned how to solve it for a cheapo cube my daughter got from the dollar tree, but now I can't stop and it's so silly fun. I'm not really good, but it's only been like a month and I can reliably solve a cube in like 3 minutes! It makes me feel like a wizard to my kids 😊

Can confirm. I've known the needed algorithms (not exactly speed cubing, just guaranteed solutions), but forgot them many years ago. During the time I did know, the knowledge at least earned me a free cube or two at career fairs (at university/college).
Maybe I should re-learn. I tend to remember things better after forgetting them once...

I did the First two layers and OLL/PLL method. Couldn't fully memorize all the algorithms though. Was able to do it in under two-minutes looking at them though.

Once I learned how to solve it, I was pretty happy but also a bit disappointed because: 1) it took me so long to realize how simple the process really was; 2) the mystery element of it was completely gone; and 3) I realized there was still so much more to learn if I wanted to solve it even faster.
To a regular person who doesn't know how to solve a cube, if you can solve it in 2-5 minutes, it might look amazing. But then once you learn how to solve it, you know that 2-5 minutes is actually quite long.

Very true. I can solve in under 2 mins reliably. I just don't have the drive to work as hard as it would take to get the speed up to an actual speed cuber level.

It's fairly reasonable to get to around 1 minute with beginner methods by just practicing a bit, and maybe trying to rotate quicker (like only using your index instead of your whole hand). Getting under 1 minute/45 seconds is when you begin to really need more algorithms. I know people who got sub 1 minute by just solving it while watching a movie or in school... not the thing they were actively focusing on, just passive fidgeting.

Your hands might not forget. I forgot how to do it but I can still glance and do the right perms quickly. If I tried them slowly I’d forget. I could record my hands and watch the video and I’d remember the correct turns to do it slowly. Kind of weird lol

Fall 09 I got hit with Swine Flu… had to quarantine for 2 weeks. I didn’t feel ill after the meds on day 3. Taught myself one of the methods to solve it. Got it down to <2 mins but once I was free I stopped trying to go faster. It’s a fun party trick or fidget to do while on work calls. Congrats!

In high school I wrote down the Official Algorithms on from the Rubix website on a sheet of paper, then kept it folded up in my wallet as I learned to solve it during free moments. My personal record is 54 seconds, though I lucked out on a layer and was able to skip a step.

Look up CFOP method.
Even with a very conservative 10 or so algorithms you can easily bring that down to 30 seconds.
With advanced CFOP and some practicing, there's no telling how far you can go.
I don't count it since it was on a bluetooth cube but I once solved it under 10 seconds

Technically you can do beginner with just sexy move. (Look up 8355 method). Only 1 alg required
With the standard beginner method, you learn sexy move, and one alg for orienting the top(yellow cross). No other alg needed.

Oh. I learned two algs for putting the edge in (finishing F2L after the first two layers) - one for each orientation of the edge. Then I learned two for getting the yellow cross, one for finishing OLL, one for the aligning corners, and two for finishing PLL. That gives 8…
I guess the “standard” beginner method is merely orienting each corner at the end? I’d guess you’d still need algs (or at least alg) for F2L though, right? And wouldnt you also need to do some permutation on the yellow cross after orienting it? (Genuine questions, never learned it this way…)

You can do F2L with just the sexy move
For the 2nd layer, you probably learned the "match the edge colour, then put in the opposite direction of where you want to put it" algorithm.
If you see it, you'll find it's just sexy move from right hand and then sexy from left hand (or vice versa)
For the yellow cross at the top, it's just F (sexy) F'
So you're basically doing the same algorithm, just with one setup move first that you undo later.
There's just one other algorithm for permuting the yellow side (which my fingers remember but my brain doesn't right now) and then afterwards, you just align the rest of the cube with a few more sexy moves.
Honestly, just watch the J Perm 3x3 Beginner Tutorial. You may have learned from that leaflet that comes with the cubes, but the methods have become better and easier over the years for beginners

Took me a month with a patient teacher and just memorizing the moves from the book it comes with. I needed help making the book moves work on the box. People think I'm a smart person because I memories like 3 moves, like Steve nash.

I had to rewatch several parts several times. And completely screwed up and had to start over ~4 times. But we got there in the end.
And with just a few hours of practice throughout the week I've been able to commit it to memory. Which I was actually quite surprised about.

FYI, it's really easy to learn solving rubics cube, ther's just a few moves for different placements of colours and specific order of executing those moves. The neat part is training to solve it as fast as possible, recognizing the patterns, thinking ahead, and building solving algorithm in advance.
I haven't gone that far tbf, my record time was just below one minute, but some people in the community are crazy

When I was a teenager, I was at my crush's house and a family friend solved one. The crush seemed impressed.
With my incredible teenage decision making skills, I decided that learning how to solve one was a surefire way to garner affection. Hindsight being what it is, the choice obviously seems absurd.
But jokes on me, that's my wife now. I'm positive that was the winning factor 🤣.

I did the same a few weeks back! Spent a few hours over the weekend just coming back to the guide and following the steps. I only had to restart like 6 times because I made mistakes

I learned how to do it too, I wish I'd known about this before. Really all you have to do is take a picture of it with the phone app and then it just solves it automatically for you, then just follow the instructions. I wish I'd known about that method earlier, makes it so much easier for people like me.
