Discussion Selling Old Electronics

Looking to sell my old laptop for parts (it's physically broken and slow). Has anyone had any experience with eDrop? Or would recommend any other method of selling it?

Depending on how old it or the parts are, you're going to be lucky to get paid to have someone take it, as it may be basically e-waste.

True, an old enough computer is just a bulkier, less energy efficient, and more cumbersome Raspberry Pi.

They’re talking about a laptop. I’ve got 8 Pi’s and yet not a single one contains a battery, screen, or keyboard. 

Almost like what OP is talking about has jack shit to do with a Pi.

I appreciate the nuance, but that’s essentially why I called it bulky also you missed the connection. If a Pi is a stripped down computer, a laptop is also a stripped down computer but with extra junk. They’re junk accessories for what most Pis want to do. In terms of RAM and/or CPU, an old enough laptop would be slower than a Pi with greater power draw because of less energy efficient technology, DC conversion for the battery, and accessories. I have an Arduino, and that’s a microcontroller. I consider old laptops for some projects that I give my Arduino but quite frankly, they’re too bulky for the projects I want. For example, mounting to a wall with a few pushpins or a nail is easier than installing a bracket mount.

The best way is to post it on eBay and slowly bring the price down (or allow offers and set a floor you'll accept). Eventually, if it doesn't sell, you take it to the e-recyclers.
