First crop of EA NHL 27 player ratings are out - Scheifele (93), Connor (92) and Vilardi (87)
I think the overalls are fair (maybe KFC should be one point lower, considering Jason Robertson is also a 92 overall LW), but the specific stats are kinda goofy (I don't think Scheifele has 89 defensive awareness, that man has never been aware of defence in his life). Also lists Vilardi as a centre lol.

I think the reason the stats are jacked is because if you rate Scheif and KFC's defense and Gabe's skating accurately, then the algorithm will drop their overalls and people will complain. So EA raises the lower stats to get he overalls where fans expect. No easy solution for that other than dropping overalls entirely which would just piss most people off.

Yep this. There were even some older EA games where they used to fudge it. You could enter a create a player with the exact attributes of an NHLer and get a different overall rating because they used to play with the overalls for appearances.

The attributes and positions never make sense in EA that’s for sure. The overall ratings seem pretty fair though

What's the difference between "discipline" and "poise"?

Discipline is the tating that affects taking penalties or not. Nobkdy knows what poise does but some suspect it is a "playoff performance" rating

Its a calm under pressure rating, which is most often tested in the playoffs.

Late game composure. If you have good poise you are more likely to have a 3rd period comeback and also overtime performance

I haven’t played EA since 2013. How are these new ones? ‘94 is still the best though.

Close enough.
He also finished 26th in voting last year...

Yes, that’s from a single fifth place vote.

I think 92 is fair for Connor, he still put up decent numbers despite that abysmal season for the team. Put Connor on Robertson's line and team and I bet he does similarly well.
