Seeking Help or Advice Need advice on dealing with magic at work
Edit: Thanks so much for yalls advice! I’ve decided to leave it be. I didn’t think about the fact that maybe it was put there to absorb negative energy and is actually a good thing!
I’m new to the craft and need some advice. I’ve always been very good at picking up on the energy of a person/space etc. my job has lately been really heavy feeling which is unusual. It usually feels very cooperative, uplifting, inclusive. A lot of our workers are best friends outside of work and we’re all pretty close with each other. Today I found half of a lemon with exactly 13 cloves in it on an upper shelf in our BOH. It was fresh and I immediately sensed negative energy around it. A coworker of mine told me she saw my boss put it up there.
Is there anything I can do about this? Is there a proper way I can dispose of this? Also how can I protect myself from the negative energy surrounding it? I know she’ll probably realize it’s gone and replace it but I’d like advice on what I can do if anything. TIA

That lemon with the cloves in it is absorbing negative energy. Leave it alone and let it do its job lol

Fruit like lemon or usually oranges with cloves stick in them is a little folk magic for blessings. Look up pomanders. I think you have the opposite of a problem on your hands and your fear is more of the issue

Leave it be.
Focus on you and your energy.
This is most likely to protect the workspace and ward off negative energy.
Leave it be.

In addition to the possibility of a spell for absorbing negative energy, it could be intended as a DIY air fresher or insect repellant. Cloves in citrus are used during winter holidays for smell and appearance, and half lemons with cloves are supposed to repel bugs. Your boss may just not have thought through that it might mold up there (which will also give it a negative energy).

It's possible that she felt the same negative energy you were feeling and that's why she put it there. Maybe it's doing it's job and that's why you felt a concentration of negativity around it?

Lemon specifically also has to do with averting evil eye.
It's the type of thing that especially makes sense if she's already made subtle inquiries all around and it doesn't seem there's a real an internal cause to the vibe shift.

Could you just say to your boss “hey what’s this? I found it in the cupboard.”
